How is it not possible for your dev-team to not know whats going on ingame. One could think that it would be in your own best interest to have a small clue of what the players actually DO when they play.
It doesnt take much to use your own tools does it? How could you possibly miss that Rebellion Alliance was disbanded yesterday? How could you possibly miss that the russians would invade that space? How could you possibly miss that it will be defended by ppl from Gem and Fade?
Someone in your office seriously needs to get the boot and the rest need to shape the hell up. THINK for once! Put your "Incarnia" aside and put some time and effort in to fix that fancy-no-good-for-nothing-server that we (the players) are paying for. The same players that keep your company running.
Hint: MMO Devs, like software Devs in general are lazy.
Unlike regular software Devs though MMO Devs don't get bailed out by the fact that hardware doubles in performance every 5 years which means their lazy bloat code runs exactly the same speed as the less bloated code did on the previous generation.
But yeah, you make a great point, if CCP paid some damn attention TO WHAT IS GOING ON in their own game not only would they not link Venal to Geminate they might notice the regions immediately to the East of Venal and Geminate that have more robots than people in them.

Originally by: CCP Fallout It's on the same node. One of the benefits of reporting a fleet fight 24 hours before it is scheduled to happen is that we will reinforce the system. When people don't report the fight, they inadvertently wind up affecting those not involved at all. This is why we always ask that players report their fleet fights.
Keep in mind that our Team Gridlock is constantly working towards improving performance, and we've a ton of blogs on the matter and have implemented a number of key improvements that have helped fixed performance.
Translation: We aren't going to do crap about it.
Can I report your post as a troll and/or flame? It certainly meets the criteria of either.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: I think a lot of the problems with Post-Dominion EVE may be caused by the fact that the complexity of this game has outgrown what an Iceland based Dev staff can handle. Only so many qualified people are going to move there for employment when there are MMO companies in far more hospitable places throwing the same (or more) money at them.
Simply put, they are expanding their Iceland team with talent that probably couldn't get an interview much less a job in, say, Austin or San Diego.

time to do something about this. yesterday please. If you cant fix it with the server just make restrictions to systems.
That wouldn't be a good idea. It would give whichever side got there first complete control over the system, ie: by hitting the cap with their side before the other side can react. Don't think for one minute that wouldn't be abused 6 ways from Sunday by blobbers.

Originally by: CCP Spitfire While I certainly understand your frustration, you may find this post by CCP Chronotis interesting (starting from the second paragraph).
We don't expect you to understand our frustration or even care about it, because we have a pretty good idea that you DON'T, and that it takes mass riots and us causing you bad press to even engage in lag issues BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED!
We EXPECT you to effing DO SOMETHING about it! We're customers, get it? Our dollars (or Euros) feed your children. We don't HAVE to continue to GIVE you those dollars. We expect that this fact should induce SOME sense of urgency?
I don't give a flying crap if the NC/Russian blobs want to beat each other over the heads. The more they kill each other the better, I say.
What I DO expect is that a system that I am in which is dozens of jumps away from all that TO NOT BE AFFECTED. And if you want to try to GUILT them into reporting their fights so "innocent 3rd parties" aren't affected, you think THAT will motivate them? Also, how the hell are we supposed to predict where fights happen anyway?
If that is your attitude, I'm going to start requesting reinforcement for every system I think I may want to visit each and every day and see how you deal with that.
Reporting systems for fights should have been, AT BEST, a TEMPORARY solution to the problem that should have been fixed by now. Your server cluster should detect load automatically and allocate resources accordingly. Maybe if you'd re-allocate resources from the upcoming Space Barbie ca$h $hop and Twilight Online you could achieve this?

Thanks for the update Veritas.
CCP have been pretty informative whenever they have been in touch with the players through dev blogs or whatever,
Well.... My dad always say "Action speak louder than words"... And I have yet to hear anything from CCP.
Your code is probably like a bowl of spaghetti. Strings everywhere in all directions. That old code from 2003 has been modified over and over in 8 years time. What did you expect would happen? It will take ALOT of time and money to sort that stoneagecode out. But we will gladly pay for it, actually, we are already... Atleast fix an automatic nod-reinforcer or "freeze" system for 15 min to reinforce it. Will make time for everyone involved to take a bio/smoke/sandwich. 15 min is nothing in EVE. It would be totally accepted by all players.
Btw, you "#ñ"#ñ owe me 6 hours of my life back. Do you know how hard it was to get the female out of the house for this.... I will discuss suitable reimbursements with GMs. And I want to talk to a married one that will understand... :/
And so far what CCP has done is between my character's first name and a curse word for solid excrement. Sort of like what they've done about bot alliances.
I guess we'll check back in 18 months.
