Anyway, yes. I don't quite get why EVE apparently has to be turned into one of those other games that people play. If they want that gameplay, what's wrong with the game they're referencing? Why can't EVE be allowed to just be EVE?
One of the main reasons I play EVE is because it offers something radically different than pretty much anything and everything out there GÇö if I want to play something else, there's plenty to choose from. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

It begs the question, why not bugger off (Jesus, I said Bugger off, to many damn Brits in this game) and play those kinds of games they actually like rather than coming here , spamming the forums in an attempt to get the game maker to radically change this game.
It just seems super crazy to me, when I don't like how a game is I just stop playing it. It's like saying, go learn about life and society by isolating yourself on an island. You won't make progress and evolve if you don't learn from others. Your point of view is quite sad really. If people weren't "spamming" the forums with their opinion, feedback would be impossible. Grow up !
So, you play a game that you do't really like an i'm the one who should grow up lol. You compare a niche sandbox MMO TO DIABLO and I need to grow up? rofl
I always say this when confront by people of your type. Their is nothing wrong with playing your way, liking what you like and so forth, as long as you understand that this niche sandbox game might no cater 100% to just you. There are plenty of us who , you know, just like EVE for what it is.
As for the "world vs Island" thing, that's an example of your faulty thinking. I live in America, an imperfect place to be sure, but we like it for the most part. I deal with people from other countries who grumble all the time and say "in my country, we do it better, we do it different, ect ect". I'm sure their places of origin are great places, but.....
.......It begs the question, why the $%^& aren't you in your country then, why are you HERE trying to change what We like rather than just going to where YOU like it? Same for games, if you like Mass Effect and Diablo or whatever, go there and play that, leave EVE for the EVE players. |

If EvE would be like other games out there I surely would have stopped playing the game a long time ago instead of still sticking to it after almost 9 years now.
You might say that ccp has not added that much content over the time, but they added many tools to create our own content in our little sandbox. If you were playing eve for 4 years and still do not get that ccp merely provides us with the tools to forge our own destiny you will never understand what eve is about.
When i buy a game for 50-60 Gé¼ i might have a game with lots of content, but I play that game for one weekend at max and then i am done with it. In EvE there are so many things you can do if you are open minded and creative and do not wait for the developer to tell you what to do that you can spend many years in EvE.
Again... EvE for me is special because we as players can create our own content and not in a way that other games like Star Trek Online give you the chance to do it (creating your own PvE missions and stuff like that).
No.. we create our own content by building up empires or tearing them down and ccp gives us new tools to do that on a regular basis. If you need someone to write a storyline for you to follow then EvE never was the right game for you and if it took you 4 years to figure that out i feel sorry for you. |

Let me translate that for you: If you're not having fun in a sandbox, It's not the sand's fault.
I don't know who invented that saying, but he should get a noble prize imo.

Another feature you don't get out of the other games is that you can pass out, wake up 20 minutes later and still see the ship happily grinding whatever you were doing before

I removed the obvious things as the OP knows that EvE is not a content driven game. So I'll give her the benefit of the dooubt and assume that she has realized that in 4 years. She seems intelligent enough.
Now to my point: EvE is just that, a plaer driven game. New expansions and PvE Contect is not the focus of the game, nor should it be. Grinding NPC standings, Grinding for LP. Those are some of the only "grinds" that you should ever have to do. Out in Null you can make isk rather easily by simply running one complex and picking up some faction loot. So Isk is not a grind, If you have to grind for isk, you are missing some of the most fun parts of the game. Planetary Interation is an easy, low SP required, sustainable income, and can support a Plex a Month with general ease.
But the larger point is, Players create the content. If you do not want to play any kind of PvP then you will burn out on EvE eventually. PvE is not how to play EvE. It isn't advertised as a PvE game such as WoW. It does not have a story driven quest line (exceptions being Epic Lines and a few missions here and there) Take for example, GOONS and NCDOT are at each other's throats (last I heard) That is an EPIC story in EvE two of the oldest alliances are going to wreak havoc across the galaxy. The really need to chronical this war and it will eventually become legend like the old Jovian Empire. THAT is what EvE is about. The players making thier game what they want it to be. Lone Wolf Pilot - striving to scrape a living on the mistakes of others, or mega alliances controlling entire segments of space, or a reclusive corperation, slinking out of a WH for a much needed supply run.
The life you can live in EvE is an ultimate escape from reality, that is why players can pass out at a keyboard, and that is why players will stick aroud for years and years. I am a short timer comparatively, I've only been playing a little over a year. I am still discovering. But already I am a CEO of a nice size corp of really fun people to be around. I have made friends, RL friends from an online game. My RL friends now play EvE (RL recruiting FTW). And, the experiance is just what I expected from a sandbox MMO, Play with players and make your own adventures. The "lack" of PvE depth is not what the game is even meant for, no Sandbox game is, For Example: Star Wars Galaxies, awesome sandbox until Sony Online Entertainment wanted a "story driven player experiance" to compete with WoW. What happened? he game changed so drasticly for the worse, they they lost about 60% of thier subs in three days. and 90% within 3 months. I had inveseted 5 years into that game.
EvE is unique, it is mouldable, by the players, If you dont want an enemy neighbor... then blow them up, or move. There is nothing you can't do in this game. And DUST 514... MUWAH HA HA, I see very evil, and fun times ahead, and a lot of broken PS3 controlers when a dread in orbit strikes a hired merc platoon. Oh I can see the red faces now..... fun times. |

While I fully understand that Eve is a PVP game, the isk faucet is PVE, so the financial core of the game is PVE. Every isk you see in this game comes from PVE content. Read this blog from Jester http://jestertrek.blogspot.ca/2012/08/no-problem.html. When CCP takes out the ATM machine that is moon mining, I hope they have a solution around the corner to make PVE more enjoyable. Not because EVE needs to be a PVE game, but because people will rely way more on PVE to finance their activities. Kinda wish they did something about it in the last 4 years huh !? |

you will take a break, for good reasons, hopefully CCP will work harder on new fun and exciting content and keep improving on their sandbox, then you come back.
