Actually Eve (on my pc) is a very stable game if i would compare it to lord of the rings : battle for middle earth that game would get uninstalled in under a day.
I don't think i ever "normally" quit lotr, the game does it for me on random occasions

Between 16 June 2004 and 24 Nov 2004: 2 Crashs, no disconnects
Between 25 Nov 2004 and 29 Jan 2005: 3 crashes, 33 disconnects (and I do not believe that is all the disconnects i have had).
Yes, it could be our systems, isp, etc, but did something happen in late november 2004? Did my system change then? no. Hmmmmm. I wonder what could be the problem.

Hmmm...
Yep mines about the same but can go back to June. Run 23x7 in 6 months upto exodus maybe 2 node crashes and a I think 1 freeze. Since 24/11/04 its usually probably 1 node drop per day and can be up to a few dozen freezes. So to the person saying its your hardware thats not necesarily the case have been running with the same machine throughout with no changes other than eve patches.
I'll live with it just wish I didn't have to.

Can anyone pinpoint when these CTD started was it the after the first Exdus patch, or when they upgraded some hardware???
Im getting sick of it, was in a battle at the weekend and the enemys jumped through the gate, i locked the first red and it was targeting for ages, hasten to say i then CTD.
Connection lost rubbish, yet i know it isnt my setup cos my alt waqs still logged in fine and flying about.
What is it, have they got some apprentice on the clusters ? or have they not paid there bills at the ISP.
But i gotta say the CTD are sorta subscription cancelling BUgs that i want them to sort, Lets hope the patch does something wonderfull.

I posted this in another topic but it applies here as well and this is a much more popular thread.
Run Memtest86, clean out your computer of dust, make sure your SOUND (straight from the chipset/card brand if possible), VIDEO (straight from Nvidia or ATI if possible), and MOTHERBOARD drivers (VIAarena.com for VIA drivers) are up to date. Avoid BIOS updates :-/ they can be more pain than they are worth if the system has been stable otherwise.
My wife's system had a lot of problems with WoW during beta (system locking up and bluescreening), but not other games. It turned out the memory stick was overclocked (ran Memtest86 on it). The mobo wasn't reading the SPD on the chips correctly (Nforce 2 mobo, notoriously picky) and a BIOS upgrade had reset the settings from slower, safer settings. I adjusted the CAS latency on the RAM and the problems went away! Sometimes, these problesm don't manifest immediately, either, but suddenly pop up months later.
We were still plagued by a popping and clicking on the audio, and I noticed it only happened when she was pressing keys or had just released a key. Switching the keyboard to a USB keyboard (it was a PS/2, and her optical mouse was on a PS/2), solve the issue - apparently some Nforce 2 motherboards also have issues regarding excessive voltage draw on the PS/2, which is part of the southbridge chipset, and would in turn affect voltage across the PCI bus, which her Audigy was on... which was also working hard with lots of sounds and music in an EAX4 environment.
Neither problem was WoWs fault; they WERE system issues, that were exacerbated by WoW pushing the system memory wise (she only has half a gig of RAM, it used all of it and then some), and sound wise. There wasn't anything Blizzard could have done, other than seriously cut back the features of a game, just for one system which WAS technically unstable, even if only WoW was the only APPARENT cause of the problem. Memtest86 (memtest86.com) proved the MEMORY was faulty, not the game.
My work system rebooted itself twice during EVE, within 30 minutes of each other, right at the end of finishing mining. Normally it's a VERY stable system, since it's used for software development. I updated my sound drivers, and the problem never came back. Other games worked fine as well.
Sometimes, there are bugs in the drivers that only a few games will bring to the surface. In this case, the flaw is NOT with the game, and often has already had a fix released.

65 connection lost and 22 crashed since 2004.06.15 13:29:25 . Thats not that much for the 6 months that are in the logs right? In theory this would mean I had about 130 connection losts and 40 crashes in all the time I play eve.

I get quite a few CTDs, but it's mostly from doing something stupid (ctrl+esc and winamp related mostly). What I have found, however, is that whereas the game pre-Exodus would sometimes juut flat-out crash when minimizing, now it only does that during the aformentioned stupidity.
So Exodus made things more stable for me at least. ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

Connections lost four tonight. The bad part is I couldn't log directly back on due to "cant connect to port". I had to wait 10-15 minutes each time. The Eve website was down then too so it was on the server side.
