After hearing a lot about the FW mission epic profit I decided to fit a stealth bomber and give it a try myself. The profits really are pretty epic, but all the missions I have had so far are 25+ jumps away which not only cuts into the isk+h, but also makes me feel really paranoid.
So my question is - are FW missions ever given less than 20ish jumps away?

Rarely. The whole point is that they are in enemy faction lowsec. Not that it matters, no-one roleplays faction pirates, least of all in their own lowsec.

All FW missions spawn in the enemy's low sec systems. Some agents are very close to the enemy's space so it may only be 4-5 jumps. Others as you noticed are 15 or so jumps away making the 20 jump trip pretty common.
There are two primary ways around this: 1) Only use border agents as these will give you short round trips (very restrictive). 2) Collect many missions at a time and run them as a packet (preferred method).
The second method is by far the most common. You simply visit all the good quality lvl4 agents, accept missions from them and generally speaking, they will spawn in the same area. So after your 10-15 jumps to the mission area, it's only 1-2 jumps between missions. Most people take 4-5 at a time. You do end up with a 2 hour round trip (including visiting agents) but you make a ton of LP in that trip. The first method is only used if you just want to run a quicky in 20-30 minutes, it is not the most efficient method.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

Can you just have alt accepting the mission in station and combat guy move to the area doing the mission and then the alt completing the missions and asking for another one when the combat alt is already in position ? Pod |

Not really. Your alt would accept the mission and get the bookmark for it, then your mission guy would move to the correct system and...do what exactly? The alt still has the bookmark.

Greetings:
It all balances out in the end.
If you take an interceptor or just a t1 frigate or even a shuttle to get the missions, you spend 30 to 60 minutes mission gathering and getting back to where you have the actual mission ship.
Then use your stealth bomber (recommended), and with missions themselves taking two to no more than ten minutes, given travel time, you might get four to five missions done in 15 to 60 minutes based on how close they are to one another.
So for two hours (typical average case) to get done four to five missions compared to high sec level four missions that take how much time to do four to five missions?
Thank you.

...Except the payouts and LP store for FW missions is pretty awesome.

Do you bother to salvage the wrecks for tags, or just take the LP and mission reward?
I'm asking as a SB don't have all that much cargo space.

Edited by: Meridius Dex on 20/02/2011 15:14:59 I am about to give up on exploring for and running Gurista combat plexes in low sec. They are hard as hell to find (^%$#*& wormholes!) and FW low sec is like grand central station: by the time you scan down a plex someone else is usually running it.
Speaking of FW missions, what kind of ballpark, isk-wise, are we talking about for running 4-5 missions over a 2-hr TF? - Dex -

With max standing, max relevant social skills, and 7-8 L4 FW missions done in ~2 hours (i take missions from lower quality agents too), you can expect to make 300-500mil depending on current value of lp store items and how long you wish to wait for those items to actually sell.
However if you are thinking of doing L4s in a SB, you have to be very very carefull and keep your transversal high at all times, which is very tedious.
Best regards, J. |
