Ladies and gentlemen (b***hes and a**holes), I am growing tired of can flipping miners while I wait for my skills to improve so I can go hold my own in lowsec. What else is there to do to pester people besides **** off miners?
Although, the 6 people that showed up to "defend" the miner I flipped last night was pretty funny...considering none of them were of the same corp that the miner was.

The obvious answer is to stop training your skills, that way you won't have to wait for them anymore.

But seriously, if you want to yarr, you don't have to wait on your skills. I've seen week-old rifter pilots take down megathrons solo. just know your prey, and know your limits, and you'll be fine.

Go to low sec.
Don't fall into the trap of waiting till you think your skills are upto it. There is always one more skill to train, so unless you want to wait a couple of years till you have flat five skills I recommend you go for it as soon as possible.

Yep, that's what I currently have. I'm not concerned about it getting blown up (it happens), I'm concerned about being able to break anything larger than a cruiser's tank with my 200mm peashooters. I figure if I wait until I at least have T2 guns (about a week) then I might have a fighting chance.

Carry alot of ammo, learn ship types, learn what is active and what is buffer tanked, how to gtfo if necessary, and learn how to get under guns without getting alpha'd. Oh yeah, and how to identify obvious bait, because most lowsec ***s suck at baiting.
Get your support skills up to 4, unless its really important, like armor tanking skills, electronics, etc, etc.
S'not hard, theres about 1500000000 guides to lowsec as a week old rifter pilot.

Right now im trying to find out if i can rifter gank a covetor/hulk in highsec before CONCORD gets me.
Also, NOS/NEUT can be a really good help against cruiser+ tank.

You would be surprised at how many low sec residents have 0 idea what they're doing. Getting podded in lowsec, barring a lag out, is nigh impossible. Go there, lose a bunch of ships, kill a few, until you figure it out (or find a corp to join that will help train you) and bring on the yarr.

The advice in this thread is good advice.
Don't wait, go!
The longer you wait, the less likely you are actually to start. Right now, you can fit a rifter dirt cheap. Go to low-sec and figure out what you can beat and what you can't. Trial and error. Blow stuff up, lose some ships.
Don't wait for T2 guns, once you start fitting T2 guns you increase the value of your ship and the less likely you are to risk losing it.
Go now and risk your T1 fit rifter which is cheap to replace. Then, when you can fit T2's you'll have a much better idea of what is a viable target and what isn't. Sure, you'll still be risking a more expensive ship, but you'll have a better chance of making the right fight/flight choice too.

Problem is that he is going to find either nothing, as he says, or he is going to beat his head against the whole faction frig/pirate frig/tech 2 frig wall you see in lowsec. People like me, who he can kill, are either nonexistent, or wont engage him.
He needs to either join a pvp training corp, pirate or not, or blow some frigs up in RvB just because he can find and kill them easier.

Red vs. Blue is another good idea. Lots of opportunities there, for sure.
And yeah, if you're going into low sec, it's better to have a corp behind you or, at the very least, go with a friend. Then, learn how to aggress the targets you can kill against their will, and learn to slip away from those you can't.

You're assuming we are there in the first place. D-scan every few seconds, bug out when you see someone on the overview. Never warp to 0 on any belt when you see people in local, and assume by ship type what they are here for. Know what rats warp scram, dont engage them with people in local. Once in awhile you'll get lucky and catch one of us, but on the whole, the way we survive is by waiting you out.
We have to do this mostly because people like the OP are a minority, and if we live solo there its usually blobs or ships that outclass us.
Unfortunately, the problem of open-world PvP is getting the outclassed to fight, and EVE offers no reason to do so as opposed to run.

Stop giving him bad intel and terrible advice.
Most of the soft targets (which are plentiful) have never even heard of the DSCAN. The ones that have have no idea how to use it properly.
What do you mean by "ships that outclass you"? When it comes to subcap warfare you can kill anything with anything if you are good enough, or if your target is bad enough. And the only way to learn which fights you should avoid is by doing.
And the reason for jumping into fights which the outcome is not 100% certain to you is for the fight itself. That is why we PVP, for the good fights. If you enjoy the fight, it won't bother you to lose a ship every once in a while (or maybe all the time ). Of course you wouldn't understand that, as you are clearly petrified by the mere thought of PVP.
If you care more about holding on to your ship than getting fights/kills, of course you are going to hate PVP. If you are scared of flying into a fight where you will most likely lose your ship, start flying ships that you won't mind losing instead. ______

Can't engage when they warp out as soon as you land and go dock.
Or when it's a gate camp.
Or a blob.
Saw each of those last night. Was fun to hide in clock while the 40 man (seriously? what the hell) blob warped off the gate.

OTOH, not every low-sec system is alike. If the one you were in had a 40-man gate camp, maybe another system with fewer people, and maybe more laid back, would suit your purposes better.

The problem is most fights simply are auto-lose with no fun aspect. There's too much of a gap between a pilot with a few months of skills using a faction frig and t2 mods versus a meta 3 t1 frig. Or two battlecruisers versus a mining cruiser. Or a fleet of ten people.
There is really little "fun" in EVE's PvP. This is the same with any open world PvP system. The unbalanced and free for all nature tend to make encounters less fun because they are more frontloaded. What fun is there losing your destroyer to a sebo'd mulitple bc station camp?
You cannot "kill anything" without a long learning curve and time spent in SP. You will not learn anything engaging a dramiel or slicer with a t1 frig except not to engage them with a t1 frig.
I've been mining solo in lowsec for the past month, and watching the area. I literally have been the only vulnerable target in the region for any length of time, and the few others that did use t1 ships to be targets got killed and left. I'm not saying this never having traveled in lowsec, but as someone who risks his ship just going out there. He's not going to find soft targets, and the few he could nail never leave the safety of the gate guns.
His best bet is to join a training corp and fly in fleets, like I said. I honestly doubt you live in lowsec, and you don't know the area at all. Between my characters I've lived in multiple regions, and its been the same.

COme to costolle with your cheap ships, and PvP the following ships I have seen fly through: Daredevil, Dramiel, Navy Slicer, Vagabond, Cynabal, Hurricane, Tempest, multiple Archons, Ishkurs, and quite a few others.
Now honestly tell me, the OP in his rifter is going to do much against any of them. Tell me he is going to outfight Veto or Back to Yarr, or whatever corp the occasional roams come through in.
I don't know how you fight, my guess is your carebear alliance does the occasional roam with cheap ships through, but for people who spend time in the area solo, it's either dead or filled with ships low sp people learn to avoid.

No it isn't, because those ships I mention also roam looking for kills as well. I've been in several lowsec systems, and I used costolle as an illustration. I've ratted in lowsec in Amarr side heading up to provi as well as explore the FW systems. I've roamed in old man star solo, and amamake and explored. T1 frigs are rare because the game is flush with ISK and vet players. Pretty much the only place you may find them in is in FW systems, and again, you are also going to find much higher amounts of t2/faction frigs.
If it were just one system, you have a point. But a lot of the other systems still have the same problem, and are barren instead of having high traffic. The OP could spend a lot of time trying to find things to engage solo that he can tackle. If the op were in a t1 cruiser or something that could tank the gate guns, yeah his target selection opens up.
You don't have to believe me though, look at your own kill logs, and see how many t1 frigs or t1-fit cruisers you have killed or go through your usual roam spots and see how many wrecks exist in them that aren't at gates.

Not true.
I've been holding my own in lowsec with my crappy t1 fitted rifter.
I find the trick isnt being good at pvp. Success comes with failing less than the other guy.
Not terribly many kills I got so far but I am more than satisfied!
Doing it solo to boot!

It is interesting to me that Centri chose to respond to my post, which, being theoretical, is easily refutable. I notice, for instance, that he did not attempt to refute Sebadai's killboard, which, giving hard evidence of Centri's fallacy, cannot be so easily refuted.
I think the poster who calls him a troll must be right. Else he is a hardcore carebear, one who is beyond reformation.

So I spent the weekend in low and nullsec.
I'm happy to report that i only lost three ships. Then again, I only FOUND three ships. Actually, the first one found me in nullsec just as I jumped through a gate. Dropped a warp disrupt and proceeded to take my rifter from behind. Second guy I found...a drake. I didn't mean to find him....third I found was a T1 frigate. With T2 modules. He ****d my rifter's face.
So yeah, going to lowsec and nullsec with T1 ships and skills...not a very good idea. As someone above mentioned, the selection of targets is VERY limited, to the point of being pointless.

Another way to increase your survivablity is to make friends.
FW is one way...I suppose...
Or, hook up with a more experianced pilot. Fleet up with him. You go and attack someone. While you're getting pasted, have your friend come in and gank him. Split the loot. Rinse and repeat.

That seems to be my recollection of null/lowsec. EVE has evolved... the word is out: if you do not travel in a gang; you shouldn't undock. That seems to be the general attitude of most players... Except for the ******s who forget to check active wars before undocking in high-sec.
Empire wars for more blood.

Empire Wars does sound like fun...security of high sec with the hunt, blood, and tears. Pretty sure my corp doesn't do wars though, they just roam low / null for targets.

Although, the 6 people that showed up to "defend" the miner I flipped last night was pretty funny...considering none of them were of the same corp that the miner was.

Experience is worth more than skills - get into lowsec and get going.

Because at this point, if I take on anything past a half ass fit destroyer, ship goes boom.
You will be fine. And that's just stuff from one system, in one day. The cyno imicus was at a safe.. heh. The fourth/Rifter kill would've put up a fight, but even if you lost that you'd be three up. And even then, it'd be a 50/50 between yours and his Rifter I guess..
Don't underestimate the power of a proper fit, **** skills or not. -
