...might be much fun. :-D
The Lore: Normally, a ships navigation computer takes care of avoiding collisions. What we know as "bumping" is actually the work of this device and/or a ship's shields. Now, after years of research, some ingenious people have invented a switch turn this protection off in order to actually HIT something with a spaceship. There are also famous historic ram maneuvers (see Clear Skies or that supercap that startet the Gallente-Caldari war). There could be some new module called "ram" that is essentially a combination of a reinforced piece of hull combined with a computer that cancels your own evasive maneuvering/counters the evasive maneuvers of other ships.
The technical details: You activate the module and voil+á: Bumping does damage!
There needs to be some complicated formula that calculates how much damage is inflicted, but the basics are: The more speed and the more mass the ramming ship has, the greater the damage. The catch is that ramming damage is distributed between ramming ship and target. The ram itself provides a certain degree of protection since it is reinforced, but in the end the ramming ship will take damage as well. If the ramming ship has a bigger signature than the target, some of the damage is mitigated (similar to explosion radius of missiles)
Misc: Module counts as a weapon, if someone activates it and bumps into another ship in HighSec -> CONCORD Module is not targetted, i.e. you can ram while ECM-jammed. It is very well possible to suicide while ramming (think of dozens of frig hulls shattering on a titan). |

i dont know exactly how this would work your target ships shield would have to be depleated for this or its shields would protect it from anything above shrapnel.
also seem a bit to technical fo eve as in that viegn why arent we allowed to target propulsion and take there mwd's ofline ect.
however the biggest problem is the explosive radius that you talk about would have to be different for each ships and a bs physicaly doing this would be similar to setting the ship on self destruct running it up the chuff of another ship and exploding witch would set its explosive radius for that size of ship at domsday kinda explosive radius.
also on clear skies they blew up the warp core similar to what i described up above and the ship in that film had no shields and its armour and hull were ripped in places. |

I just had a Typhoongasm. Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you. |

I dunno... it could make a lot of current ships useful. |
