When doing missions such as "The Rogue Slave Trader" the result most of the time leave some slaves in a cargo can out in cold space screaming "WHAT ABOUT US" as your ship warp away (Unless you pop the can and kill the poor souls).
Why is the prisoner and the slaver more important than the regular slaves? Does CCP support some higher class society where slaves are regarded as little else than recyclable biomass despite slavery being outlawed by several factions?
The family of the prisoners will be bursting with joy!? How about the families of the other slaves left in space to die? tsk tsk...
Freeing slaves is rewarded by fines and worse, talk about hypocracy

As long as you dont go near a gate you can easily free those slaves. You can drop them off at any local station as long as theres no customs around.
Just dont undock with them still in your hold as your then classified as a slave trader and it tends to get a bit messy.

I know, but having slaves clutter down hangers all over the place is a bit rad as well. Why not class the slaves as "freed slaves" or something, trade them in for reschooling at proper places :p

You can undock with contraband, no worries there, it only get's nasty if you warp to a gate. There isn't a single station in EVE that has customs agents hanging around.
I pick up every slave I free and will look for a way to re-unite them with their people.
As for the message you carry contraband. You get that at any station in any system if it's illegal anywhere. Concord can react on contraband aswell so carrying them around in a region where they arent listed as contraband can be an option, just be carefull when hopping over into another region.
I mainly pick up all contraband and head back to my agent. At a given time I will transport it inside the system to another place to make sure I never accidentaly haul contraband to another system when hauling all the stuff somewhere else.

The agent doesn't know about the extra slaves on board the slaver vessel. The prisoners are the reason he sent you out there, if they aren't saved they will be sold into slavery. If he knew about the extra slaves he would most likely ask you to save them as well.
But if you really want to save them, find an offer which allows you to free them or offer them a decent education, or give them to someone who has such an offer.

Yes he does - he specifically mentions them, but says that he will not make freeing them a mission objective.

Actually, he says "if there are other slaves on board", which means he doesn't know about them but figures there might be some on board. Also that comment only appears for a few factions (didn't notice that when I checked the code yesterday), for some he doesn't mention that. Of course it goes without saying that these factions will punish you for keeping them on board your vessel as slaves, so in fact they don't look kindly on the practice and would expect you to drop them off at the nearest station.

How about give the freed slaves the same status as Vitoc you get from some missions? Confiscated? At least within regions that outlaws slavery.
The ways to trade in slaves for reschooling is long and far between, and to end up have a few here and there all over the place doesn't really do much else than clutter down your asset list. Of course if CCP did introduce a way to really set the slaves free, it would be a whole other ballgame
