got a L4 "pirate extravaganza" mission today.
all fine...my trusted 'phoon cut through it like usual. then the cap bug hit me and i didn't realize it untill it was too late. that's ok...my own fault, i didn't pay attention although it wasn't the first time the bug hit me.
grabbed a new BPC and got my Tempest out of the garage to finish the mission. it wasn't properly fit because the 'phoon is my favorite toy. had to warp out two times...and go back from scratch. that's ok too...still my own fault. crawling back to the last stage....locking, connection to server lost. getting back into game some time later... crawling back to the last stage....locking, connection to server lost.
crawling through stages you already cleared is a pain in the lower part of your back. i don't complain to have lost a bs to a bug that is coming and going since beta. but losing a ship and not being able to complete my task with a new one because the server is repeatedly dropping me is more than just annoying.
and don't tell me the fault is on my side. WOW was running on a second comp in my network... everything was reachable besides the EVE game server and the myeve forum. in DS missions it's a real pain if the server is "just" 5 minutes unavailable. you have to go through all these empty stages again...
please...before adding content / balancing things out, do something for server stability.
i'm just back from a one month eve vacation....and close to put this 24mio sp char into the trashcan.

I read all your stuff but the last sentence cought my fullest attention, give you itamz to me :)
But the connection problem is nothing you can prevent I guess, I never EVER get any disconnections, so it IS probobly your fault somehow, someway, maybe? :/

Due to the nature of the internet, The argument that 'I dont disconnect, so it must be your ISP' is no more valid than their arguiment 'Im disconnecting, it must be CCP'
How do you know its not CCP's ISP?
Afterall Cable and Wireless did get the nickname of 'Clueless and Witless' somehow.

I would agree were it not for the exponential increase in such complaints surfacing in the last week.

A corp mate had a level three Pirate Extravaganza last night, it took such a long time to complete so I can imagine how frustrated you were. About the bugs: I haven't had the cap bug since christmas and I only ever CTD when I use alt-tab in a station.
Which PA character are you?

I have more CTD's now than I have ever had, and I used to CTD a lot back in the start of 04. It's now normaly when I am running agent missions and I have the mission screens open whilst docking/undocking. Since I now keep them screens closed I seem to be a bit more stable. But I still CTD 5-6 times every few hours.
I even flatened my C drive and re-installed everything but this did not help me.

only 3... you're lucky... i get about 10-15 a day... annoying. specially when you're criminally flagged and get warped backto a gate or station... bang goes that new battleship you just bought... and it takes 3 weeks to get it back through the mighty traffic jam that is the "other" petition system.
i've resorted to using cruisers or below... annoying.

Sorry for your problems, i personnaly rarely CTD and when i do its a random affair, i can run the client all night at times without a hitch and its only got better. Whats your setup at min, could that be the cause?
Im using XP3200 1 gig ddr 400 X800

don't think it's related to my setup (although specs are slightly lower than yours).
i usualy have next to none CTDs (and this wasn't one either). I just got disconnected from server and wasn't able to log back in right away ("can't connect to server"). i was able to do a traceroute to the server though and it looked ok. 5 minutes later it let me in again.
everything is running fine today so far.

I got disconnected 3 times on Saturday night, both times trying to reconnect my Eve client couldn't reach the server's IP address.
Once I was able to get back online, some of my corp members crashed, some didn't.
This more likely indicates a problem between me and the Eve servers, not the servers themselves (although they have some stability issues yet to be fixed I believe).
Let's hope Tuesday patch helps this.

I keep getting CTDs saying server connection lost which I assume is a node drop. It's been getting noticably worse and happens particularly when there's a lot of people on. I know it's EVE and not *my* ISP as live music streams don't fall over.
It's not isolated incidents. It happens to my corpmates too. Seems mostly to depend where you are in the EVEverse too. |
