I use a macbook pro with bootcamp, windows 7.
It runs Eve on full graphics, no lag (even in Jita), and I love it.
Don't run it on OS X though. Eve hates Macs for some reason.

I too use a macbook pro.. Haven't tried bootcamp but it runs two clients of eve at the same time, dual screens with no problems.
Of course, I don't have it on max graphics....

IMO Eve is far more CPU bound than GPU. I'm currently running a i7 920 with HT enabled at 3.6GHz and its fairly lag resistant even in big fleet actions.

myself use a I5 750 @ 3.8 Ghz, 4gb ram, Intel G2 80gb SSD and AMD 5870, computer is getting a bit old now but have no problem at all running 2 clients at max settings, and still 12 times better then a macnoob.

EvE is fairly easy on all comps. To say its taxing CPU or even GPU is a misconception. Besides the WIS part. --------------------------------------

Eve is GPU heavy. Think about it.

Runs EvE just fine. My guess is you arent getting client side lagg. You either have a bad connection or you are experiencing some sort of server side lagg. |

Just updated my computer. After ready plenty of reviews and user feedback I decided upon a Intel Sandy Bridge computer with a P67 board. They're relatively cheap, considering it's the newest processor tech available.
Eve runs beautifully. Running 3 accounts at max graphics settings doesn't even strain the system.

Nice balanced system right there. Top of the line processor (if it was a K version and OCed) paired up with an utterly **** video card. Why? I seriously hope it's because you need the processing power for certain work related applications and just occasionally play games....
Anyways: Currently using a relatively old PC to play EvE: AMD Phenom II 955 Ati 4890 AMD 4GB 1333 mhz DDR3 Kingston 2 1900*1200 24 inch screens
It can't quite run two full screen EvE clients with all bells and whistles on, turning off the more extravagant graphical options let's me run three clients without a hitch.

I'm on a xps 720 with dualscreens running off of sli 8800gtx's, 4gb ram and intel quad 2.67ghz Striped raided 60gb ssd's for my boot and eve, which i'm extremly happy with.
All in all, the best tech of 2 years ago, tried and true.

You could have gotten a 460, for almost the same price and it's a far better card.

My new laptop. Intel Core i5-460m @ 2.56 GHz 6 GB DDR3 RAM 640 GB HDD Windows 7 ATI Mobility Radeon 6370 512 MB
I run on full settings, with an fps drop only in very big fleet battles, or a few deadspace areas.

Intel i7 or above. Or AMD phenon II or above. Decent Mobo that has extra cooling capabilities and roomy enough for how large the new graphics cards are.
Modular PSU 500-600 if using one card above that if SLI'ing or crossfire. Dont go to cheap on PSU's bad ones can ruin your entire system if they malfunction.
ATI(im sorry AMD) 5850 or above (Newer 6000 line is actually worse in perf, but cheaper) or nvidia 460 or above. Each line has it's trade offs, but last I checked 5850s got best bang for buck, and dont run super hot like the new nvidia lines...However the drivers aren't the greatest for ati's
large enough case to fit graphics cards even with a mid size case I had to saw out parts to fit the card and power connectors.
This of course all dependent upon your budget. Oh yeah with some of the newer cheaper lines in graphics cards you can actually flash their bios to upgrade/unlock better performance thus saving you over a hundred or so dollars if you know how....warranty goes bye bye though.
And last but not least if you really have the money SLC SSD hard drives. Once you get one you never want to go back even to a 15k scsi in raid(also way quieter)

Naa I got it all in a package deal for Ç800, including a good tower, 6gb ram, tb hd and various low-noise silent coolers. I could have gone for a GTX card for Ç200-400 more, which isn't worth it atm.
The system is set up so I only need to switch out one thing when it gets obsolete (the vid card), and the computing power is used to run the db of Holdem Manager and other things.
Anyhow that setup works like a dream.
