Does anyone else have a fierly hatred for this infernal program? Always trying to change this, do that for me, it screws up EVERYTHING, and is generally clunky and annoying.
Post here if you hate microsoft office products. THEY ARE AWFUL TO USE!!!

Or maybe you just suck at using it, perhaps you should try another program more to your liking.

Your generic forum idiot input is kindly noted and put under the "no one gives a **** what these people say" category of replies.

If you hate it, why do you use it? Use LibreOffice/OpenOffice or LaTeX.

I've managed to avoid using Microsoft software for close to a couple decades now, and rather successfully so, there are very good alternatives out there - aside for that thing I have to boot into before I can launch most of my games.
And every time I do have to deal with Microsoft software the experience is similar: poorly thought out and designed, quirky, messy and unreliable.

The problem with microsoft word is all the auto-modification garbage that's enabled by default.
Disable all of that and it works fairly well most of the time.
I prefer notepad though.

I was always an open-source denier. Then when Office2010 came out it was so bloated and cumbersome, I decided to give OO a try.
Been using OO ever since, and added Thunderbird and Google docs. I don't see myself going back to Office.
I don't see myself going to Linux full-time anytime soon...but eventually.

Can you save files as .doc in these open offices you speak of?
I would love to give MS office the boot, (with the possible exception of Excel) but my college/uni work has to be submitted as readable by word 2003.

Even if it doesn't do .doc you could always save as rich text. But yes, it should do .doc, plus office 2010 formatted documents are using the openoffice standard file format (series of zipped xmls) for a lot of stuff. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

I've been using OpenOffice or LibreOffice since they brought in the horrible Ribbon interface.
They're file compatible with Word and much less awkward and clunky.

Speaking as someone who works in accounts, I love excel so much. The rest of office is pretty/completely rubbish, especially considering you can get open office for nothing.
