I am looking to do some PVP in the near future. There is an Alliance that I will be joining soon and would like to help out as much as I can. I can fly a pretty good chunk of ships with all four PC races.
I am wondering if you have any favorite ships you use for PVPā
āORā
āis there a type of ship the makes you thinkā.öMan, I wish we had one of those on our side!!!ö

I don't do much pvp anymore, but when I did I really liked a Deimos with good tackle. Taranis would get in, point somebody, and I'd warp 800km from a off-grid safe to RIGHT on top of a ship, and use antimatter at point blank to just rip a ship apart.
Blasters suck. Unless you negate range by warp-in. It needs a good tackler but when you have one it's a nice setup.
That'd be my FAVORITE setup, coz it's pretty effective bit mostly damn fun.
Cloaky-gank proteus can use the same tactics, but not as successfully,

If you got the skills for it a Typhoon is really fun to fly. The Hurricane ofcourse is great too, so many things you can do with those two ships, and they both are good bang for the bucks.
Logistic cruisers are always appreciated if you can fly them.

I thought I was gonna get heavy flak when calling a deimos (gallente, blasters, 'diemost' normally doesn't blow over well.)
And when nobody dissed hookbill - I was simply amazed. A step further when somebody actually AGREED.
I wish more threads were like this.

Favorite ship to fly in most pvp situations: Nano Heavy Pulse Zealot, up to 50km optimal range, dmn fast, agile with a mean DPS.
Ship I always love to have in gang along: T3 booster suited to gang (ea Loki for nano, legion for armor gangs etc)

The skill is for said bomb launcher, they can only be used in 0.0 though. If you fly in lowsec you will only be launching torperdoes (if you dont try out some weird fit). Stealth bombers are loads of fun, especialy if you are in a gang with a good tackle. They deal BSish dps and are frig sized, what is there not to love?

Edited by: Annie Anomie on 21/02/2011 19:02:15 Here's two reasonably priced fits I enjoy flying a lot.
Hurricane: 425mm autocannon II * 6, Medium Energy Neut II * 2 Large Shield Extender II, Invulnerability Field II, Y-T8, Warp Disruptor II Damage Control II, Gyrostabiliser II * 2/3, Tracking Enhancer II * 2, Nanofiber Internal Structure * 1/0 3 Core Defence Field Extenders Warrior II's
It's fast, it's ganky, it murders stuff, it has cap warfare, it's p cheap for what it does with insurance.
Rupture: 425mm Autocannon IIs, Medium Neut, Small Neut Large Shield Extender, Y-T, Warp disruptor II, Damage Control II, some combo of Gyrostabiliser IIs, Tracking Enhancer IIs and Nanofiber Internal Structure IIs Shield rigs and/or polys
Ghetto nanocruiser. Lots of fun to fly, goes fast, effective gun DPS and range.

Yes, except I prefer frigate hulls. Faster, better lock time, better agility. Paper thin, but that's part of the fun. There's little room for error. It's also a lot easier to get fights with a Sentinel than the other three.
Besides... Thread is about favorite ships, not the most effective in every situation with the widest range of targets.

Most PVP Frigates have specific advantages in certain situations, the real challenge is setting up that specific situation. Hybrids have there place and tbh I still will not take on an Ishkur on a 1v1 or even a 2v1 fight cause it melts frigs so fast. Blasters and drones are an amazing combo, but kiting and gang tactics tend to put the Ishkur lower on the wanted list, but as a lowsec brawler I'll take a Jag and an Ishkur pair any day.
Remember to choose your fights and don't be afriad to withdraw, in lowsec there is no honor, just who has to buy another ship(same goes for 0.0)

Hybrid skills arent as big a waste as people like to make out, they just arent as good as the other three major weapon types at the mo. On a frigate level though hybrids are very good and in general most people consider the gallente tech 2 frigate line to be one of the best as well as the comet and daredevil being to of the better faction frigates.
Even with most people mentioning projectile ships in this thread, it isnt a thread about best rather favourite ships. One of my favourite at the mo has been using combat cov ops frigates

Definitly the Rifter.
Once I toped my "Hunter Killer" out somewhere between 3000-5000 M/S. It still had rook for a full array of autocannons a missile launcher, and my PvP equipment.
There pretty good if you arm them with lasers, although slightly slower if speed tanked.

Right now I would have to say Cynabal.
Fast, powerful, good solo ship, good tackle ship(fast lock, fast ship for getting point on someone, can keep point on almost anything which is solo or kill it before it gets out of point range!) Fast enough and good enough tank where it can normally burn back to gate, or burn off and kill light tackle or whatever.
I fly them with 30km points, really worth it to have some sort of faction point on it.
Really good solo, or up to 15ish man fleets. Beyond that it is an expensive loss that does not take a beating at all for how much it is worth.

So far my favorite ship has been the Vengeance setup for heavy tackle. It's pretty exhilarating tackling a HAC->BS and fighting off drones/keeping yourself alive until the gang arrives. And the Vengeance packs quite a hefty tank, my only wish is that it was a bit faster. Purifier is extremely fun for pvp too. Brings a ton of dps to the field, good scouting ability if necessary, and great survivability if you fly it correctly.
"Man, I wish we had one of those on our side!!!"

Hurricane nothing matches its versatility.
220's and Medium Neuts for Solo Brawling
425's and HAMs for Small Gang Brawling
425's and HAMs (w/ Shield) For Shield Gangs
I also enjoy the Wolf, Ishkur, Harpy and Taranis.
From time to time, I love flying my Worm named 'Merlin'.

I hate people escaping from a fight more than anything. Hence, Sabre and Rapier and Lachesis are personal favorites. They are great ships. |

reincarnated as nano sentar. fast, high dps, decent EHP, arguably the best range. u can shrug off multiple opponents, it's really hard to lose one.
