Hi I have been WH daytripping and am wondering if the Salvaging skill affects the drops you get from Salvaging (other than not being able to salvage many BS wrecks without Salvaging 5)? I have killed a number of Sleepers but gotten no MNRs.

No,
Random is random.
2 days ago I ran 2 sites. Got 4 ribbons
This morning I ran 2 sites. Got 19 ribbons.
Salvager has salvaging 5 and T2 salvagers |

Fair enough. What does affect MNR drop chance, then? I see some wrecks are "basic" or "intermediate" so I am wondering if more advanced wrecks have a better chance? Maybe larger wrecks as well?
Also wondering if there is a listing somewhere of what Sleeper rats drop what loot?

What DOES effect the MNR drop rate is the value of the ship being used to tractor/salvage the wrecks. For this reason, you should ALWAYS be using an officer fit Rorqual. |

Confirming the above. Whs its all about risk/reward. Best reward case scenario. Faction tower with faction mod in system increase chances by 25%. Faction fitted tengus and the above mentioned rorq will increase it by 15%(depending on the numbers of tengus it increases, basw is 2 always). Not round numbers, of course. But you get the idea. |

daytripping with a rorqual... uhm.. sure.. fairly sure he ain't doin this in c5 wormholes that have a LS entrance... now if you want to salvage with an officer fit marauder.. that's yeah... ok |

A few friends and I got to wondering if the success rate might also increase the drop rate of salvage, but none of us have taken the time to document our salvage rates on anything near a large enough sampling to get meaningful data. The question was based on several conversations regarding the switch to T2 salvagers and an apparent increase in drop rates of MNRs.
To be honest, I don't think anyone has done the science to say with any authority that it has no impact, but the explorer's mantra of "random is random" certainly applies. You'd have to compare the results of thousands of identical wrecks with tightly-controlled salvage abilities to determine what, if any, difference there was. I'm pretty sure CCP has made it clear that salvaging skill only effects chance of salvage success, not the salvage results.
What I have seemed to find is that while the size of wreck doesn't completely determine the number of MNR, it seems to follow a bit.
IE, when I get MNR from a battleship sized wreck I tend to get 4-6. When I get MNR from a frigate it is generally just one.

We've got guys with varying skill in salvaging, we almost always meet the average "range" for any site that we salvage. It's completely random :) |

I was under the impression that battleship wrecks gave more nanoribbons then the frigate ones. |

this is correct, battleships are more likely to drop more nano-ribbons then cruisers ect.. ect... |
