If you get wardecced and you have a POS in High sec, how likely is it that the War targets are going to go looking for it?

If they know where it is and they got the numbers to take it, you will lose it.

A half decent defensive large POS reduces the odds as even with numbers it's: a) Time consuming b) Boring as hell c) Costly on ammo

Edited by: Kengutsi Akira on 21/02/2011 00:39:17 It was a argument where the CEO of my corp replied to my concerns about having a highsec POS and getting wardecced. I said it would be vulnerable, his answer was "bull****"
lol tho... I start telling him about this; I get this reply "best idea ever ask forum trolls the mechanics of highsec warfare... i ask the people that actually do it"

It's more boring than difficult to take down a highsec pos.
àbut that goes for the defenders as well, only "take down" in their case means "unanchor", and serves as the ultimate protection from loss. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Is this true? also
"BUT even if they do find it they will need a ****ton of battleships to kill the damn thing because you cant bring any capitols into highsec its gonna be a ***** to kill"

A high sec pos that has been set up RIGHT and i mean RIGHT, using sufficient guns, ecm and harnders is going to be just about impossible to take down without a fleet of about 30 RR battleships.
So ask yourself, does your enemy have the numbers to take down such a pos that has been designed to be defended, do you have people with pos gunner skills, do you have people who can shield rep the pos after its been put into reinforce, do you know how to calculate how much stront should be in the pos so that it comes out of reinforce in your prime time + a whole lot of other questions you can ask yourself to determine vunlerability.
That said, in lowsec where it is easier to kill a pos, we dont even bother with guns and jammers, just let them put it into reinforce and make sure you have it comming out of reinforce in your prime time and head in with a fleet of Ospreys to rep the shields back up. Just have a fleet of RR BS on standby to take down whatever they bring to the party, assuming they come back at all to finish the job.
Most pos's die because people are dumb and do not know how to defend one or set one up right to begin with. And for what its worth, on highsec pos's that i have set up for people, there is just a **** ton of webbers and jammers sittong offline incase they get war deced., Then all you gotta do is online them and jam the **** out of anyone who comes near by. And pop them one by one with long range sniper BS's.

Edited by: Cambarus on 21/02/2011 01:29:19 As someone who used to hunt highsec POSs fairly often, and did so with like 5 other people, I can tell you: if they know you have a POS, they will kill it.
Large tower with lots of guns is usually fairly safe, avoid missile batteries, don't bother with ECM batteries, hardeners are only useful if you've got people to shoot the people shooting your POS.
EDIT: I hope this is an alt you're posting this with, otherwise you've just announced that your corp has a POS to whoever's decced you.
EDIT2:Unanchor any labs you have NOW, because you can't unanchor them if the tower goes into reinforced and they are the main driving force behind someone wanting to off your POS |

If the wardec is for the express purpose of getting a POS kill, either pull it or lose it. If it's a regular griefer corp looking for easy targets they might not even know it's there. Even if a casual wardec does learn about a POS it really takes capitals to kill a large. A defended small could be killed in 1-2 hours by 30 or so people. Neutrals can help with the RR but I'm not sure if they'll be able to get aggro rights on a POS (never tested that myself.)

Its a purely theoretical discussion. We're a couple months away from even thinking about anything along these lines

The rest of your advice is decent but this is totally wrong. A bunch of jammers can make a pos almost impossible to kill. Plus it prevents them from just afk shooting your pos with amarr ships. Now sensor dampeners are useless though, dont bother with them at all.

They'll just put drones on the batteries, or use smartbombs if they're clustered together. It won't stop anyone, just slow them down a bit. The only way to keep people from attacking the pos is to make it untouchable without a big enough gang, which is best done with guns and maybe a few neuts. Everything beyond that is just a stall tactic, and believe me, they do not work. They're annoying for the people shooting the POS, but they're not an annoyance that could cost them a ship. |

Well, I've done it. Or, rather, my corp has done it, I'm not quite nuts enough to take the 30 hours of shooting required to solo a POS, even a ****ty high-sec one. ---
