Just started doing agent missions on an alt. I'm a complete noob in this ;)
Anyways, some time ago, I heard rumours that charisma had an effect on agents. Is this still true? Or do they only train social skills faster now?
And what standing increase should I espect on important missions? I am only increasing 0.02 from every important missions. This means it would take me like thousands of missions just to get to lvl 2. Can this really be right? I've heard people talk of 0.5 increases from important missions. Something bugged?
I'm doing security missions for amarr navy qual 9 agent (effective qual 26)
Thanks in advance.

Social skill gives you an extra 5% standing increase per level (it doesn't boost your current standings, just the future increases).
Negotiation gives you a 5% bonus to mission isk reward per level.
Connections gives you a 4% bonus to NPC standings.
Charisma just allows you to train these skills more quickly, I believe.

I have no idea. Maybe it has something to do with the quality of your agent?
I'm sure someone will tell you the answerfor sure though.

oh, one more thing btw. When is the best time to train connections? Not with standing 1.06 to amarr I guess.

The sooner you train Connections the better. It is more effective the lower your standing with the npc organization, and it's retroactive, so it's not like it only affects your "future" standing somehow.
The sooner you train it, the sooner you have a higher standing with your npc corp, the sooner you get better agents.

Train the diplomatics skill so you have a higher effective standing towards those factions your going to **** off.
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |

Edited by: Sergeant Spot on 31/01/2005 08:18:40 Connections operates on a sliding scale.
If your standing is 0.0, it gives you a 0.4 boost per point.
If your standing is 1.0, it gives you a 0.36 boost per point.
2.0 -- 0.32 3.0 -- 0.28 .. .. .. 9.0 -- 0.04 10.0 - 0.00
The closer your standing is to 10.0, the less Connections helps you. Having said that, it does wonders to speed up to climb on the agent ladder.

Good suggestion to train Diplomacy, but totally un-doable for a new player (in or near Gallante space at least)
The lowest I've seen this skill book offered for on the market was 19 MILLION ISK, usually it between 30 & 50mil.
I have yet to see it offered as an agent reward, but I assume it must be, and any hints as to the LPs or type of agent/corp that might offer it would be appreciated, since I've been rather dissolutioned that it seems so far out of reach...
But training the affordable social skills even only to L2 does result in immediate benefits I've noticed, so I'd encourage people to look into that unless they plan to run no missions at all.
