Today, during our successful shield fleet takedown of a Sansha Nation Mom in Amarr High sec, it came to my attention that CCP has not addressed what is apparently a very common and obviously broken Incursion experience: the MOM LOOT NINJA.
I am aware, that like normal high sec ops, people are capable of stealing and getting flagged. However, in the 80+ man environment of a MOM battle (with said MOM constantly dropping from overview), it is impossible to prevent an assault ship from stealing 100M in a second.
Player "Itc" today took our TS PDS and a BP for a Phantasm. How are we supposed to stop him? I could see scramming him in Low sec, or putting a bubble up in high sec, but tell me how High sec pilots are supposed to prevent people from taking the loot they worked all day to make. I'm just looking for a solution to what is obviously a design problem from CCP as I see it. How do you prevent someone from ninja-ing the main loot from high sec Moms? It's bad enough we get lower payouts, no Mom ship drops, and restricted Incursion opportunities due to sec. status(which we can grind, I understand, but my point being O.O doesn't have the problem), but this is simply wrong to have to deal with. Any 1 day old character could ninja this stuff, consequence free.
Awaiting your reply,
wtf

You did not work all day for that loot, it was just a little bonus at the end.
A 60 man fleet rakes in 840mil from a highsec mothership kill. Add to that 840k LP
And that's for the one op that took 15-20 minutes.
You already got paid for any ops you did to bring the incursion down to 0%
Stop whining.

Working as intended.
If you want to have more control over things like that, do low/null sec incursions.

Other people have addressed the issue of ninjas looting your mom in hisec. There is some personal sacrifice involved, however.
Use your imagination, ask around, or be content with things the way they are. I do not want to see "Master Looter" style systems in EVE. Such systems sidestep the trust and betrayal games which are an integral part of this sandbox sic-fi simulator. If you don't have the means to address the ninja looters, and will not put up with people taking "your" loot, perhaps you should move to the care bear lands of null sec?

The fact that normal can flipping rules do not apply (meaning you cannot prelock and shoot him after he loots without being concorded) indicates an intentional act on CCP's part. Although I'm not sure what this is supposed to accomplish. The average ninja gets far less out of the mom than the normal fleet member's 63m isk plus LP payout, due to other ninja competition. Lowsec mom will never appear due to incursion never completing. And nullsec mom you don't have access to unless in nap train.

I doubt CCP will reply to this. They usually leave complaint threads alone when the game is working as intended.
It's been stated before that loot and salvage are fair game to anyone able to take it. If you don't want someone stealing your loot take some precautions to prevent it.
The player/Corp that "Owns" the wreck can ensure nobody takes their stuff by having someone they trust in a frig or destroyer ready to warp in and pick up the loot when the site is done or the main baddie is about to go boom.
Should a thief get there first the trusted individual can have points fitted to prevent the thief from leaving the site and the "Owning" player/corp can hold and torure the thief once he has stolen from the wreck until he self destructs himself, the aggro timer wears off, he gets popped by the corp/player, or he pops any ships pointing him. This tactic was used against a known thief who used to steal critical mission completing items from wrecks in my corps missions. He didn't bother us after he popped twice.
Edit: after further reading I guess incursion sites don't work the same as regular mission sites as far as wreckage "Ownership" goes. I really don't know as I haven't done any. But you can still have someone on standby in a fast frig or ship to pick up the loot.

It is not enough that the OP succeed. Everyone else must also fail. --- Some days you are the pigeon, and some the statue. |
