Originally by: Raven Dru Did nobody ever wonder exactly why Bob never went the same way as everyone else and create an official alliance?
Didnt anyone think that they have a reason for not wanting to claim regions of space as their own?
Its the one single most basic premise of gameplay that the aggressor always has the upperhand and territory is much, much harder to protect than it is to attack. By defending an area you limit yourself in scope of tactics and maneuverability Eg. you never know when an aggressor will attack or where, but an aggressor always knows where you are, knows your positions of weakness and how to exploit them.
Bob are not stupid. They may be pirates but they are not IQ deficient and are masters of utilising current game mechanics to their advantage.
The reason they never created an official alliance is a simple one. It would make them weak. It would paint a big red target on their backside and put a "SHOOT ME" sticker on the rear bumper. By avoiding this, they can come and go at will and choose the time and place that combat begins.
This leads on to the reason why Bob CANT claim space. They can take space, they can occupy space, but they cant claim space. Bob are not giving up the north. It is slowly being taken from them because like every other occupying force they find that it is harder to hold territory than to claim it.
Good statement up to here - but then it goes downhill.
Quote:
From what i understand they are slowly being squeezed up north because they are no longer the invading aggressor.
I wouldn't say squeezed really, we're already out, yeah there have been a few guerrilla attacks (Kann and co - btw - gg on you chaps for having the nuts) - as most of us have been moving our assets/npcing and generally resource grabbing for the last month or so - off to pastures new. But overall you pretty much got the grasp of things imho. gg

Rest easy in the north, and, dont sleep heavily. We will some day be back. As for chasing logged off pilots.. bah, why bother.

Just to be clear, We the majority of the PA donĘt post on these boards for obvious reasons.
We fight where it counts and thatĘs not here!
I will make an exception here for the sake of setting a couple things straight:
First, The PA is alive and well.
Second, BoB was / is a worthy adversary, however we refused to fight them on their terms. WE picked the time, place and methods. That was our choice as they invaded our space.
Last, When and if BoB comes back to the North we and our friends and allies will continue to do exactly the same thing. Fight on our TERMS!!!
Now I will go back and continue to enjoy the game as I have from day one.
Smack on BoB !!!!
But most of all enjoy the game.

For those who wondered, BoB did head south to FIX space after this announcement. I would, however, like to commend them for showing more restraint than most organizations have the ability to show.
It takes a different level of "professional" fighter to assemble a fleet, make a trip, evaluate the situation and then leave. That is to be commended because in EVE, too often an unprepared fleet jumps into a battle it has no chance of winning and then retreats to the forums to scream about "too much EW" and "blobbers."
Nice show of restraint last night guys, it shows a level of resolve and sensibility uncommon in EVE. ------------------------------------- // The views expressed by this poster are not the views of the poster's corporation, alliance, planet or television network... but they should be. |

Is this a joke? Ignoring a problem, or hiding from it, until it goes away is not a form of victory.

Kudos th CDI for this! And a congrats to PA for finally driving BoB out of their home territory. Looking at the length of this conflict, one also has to mention that BoB was not an easy opponent. The pilots on both sides were fighting for what they believed in.

What's that mean? If it was an insult I'm sitting here offering someone a compliment for doing something really well. Not sure why I'd draw an insult for that. Hi,
Please xcuse my newbness but can I ask for confirmation on exactly what are the intentions/desires of 'BoB'. (Of course i'm not asking for what I will not get.!)
Are you all just travelling around looking for a good fight.? Are you wanting to free up the regions of 0.0 for all to enjoy.?
I'm just confused with all the other politics that have been occuring since the start of the war many an age ago.
Thanks in advance.

ok.....lol....I eventually get it.....its sarcasm they using here. LMFAO!! Good 1. You guys actually had me believing for about 20 posts worth that you honestly believed that you drove us out of the north by force. Hehe.
Now why don't you all STFU and enjoy the peace up there for a while before BoB gets upset by your blatant stupidity and forces you to become empire carebears for another 2 months. Only for us to leave and you to shout victory again. sigh...

simply, bob managed to block PA ability to control the space (the easy part), but after PA went to 'underground' bob failed to keep the space for it's own. Being harassed by pa and it's friends bob found it not funny to keep that space. If bob sticks to "let's make few pa corps leave" plan it can be considered as victory, though claiming the space ended as failure. Something to think about for everyone who thinks that ability to invade can be compared to defending the space.

The thing that ranters on both sides would do to remember is that the war was vast and had massive effects on all the corps and organisations that now live in the north. Its a bit of wishy-washy liberal thing to say but ya know, most sides did actually "win". Reikoku got rid of CDI. Cod and FU got rid of the PA leadership style they disliked. NCA made a huge war and demonstrated its angst. Bob proved itself the baddest ass pvp force in Eve. PA got to prove it had staying power and didn't disband nomatter how dark it got and outlasted Curse to win a future in a new form. Various other corps got six months of pure combat training turning them into survivalist eve combat gods, and Jericho might just have gotten freespace.
There's an upside to everything guys and at times like these its a good idea to have a drink together down the spacedock bars and just remember everything that happened.
Grats to everyone really and GG. And someone's got to write the story now.

Me being an actuall citizen in the North i can say that BoB did control it. Yes Pa were sitting in NPC station down at Venal and came to BKG every now and then for some ganks. BUt what happened when BoB went after them......they kept on logging off. I tell you this from experience as i flew with a few BoB members at several occasions.
We all know that BoB is PVP oriented group and will not sit around waiting for a few ppl to show up in BKG. You will always see small/large gangs flying around PB down to EC,Outer Ring and Tribute to find some action.
Corporations who lived in North didnt really cause any problems to the way BoB was operating.
Good luck down South. I will miss you guys and gals. Especially you BNC folks

yap yap yap yap yap pa had 2000+ members? yap yap yap yap yap yap now only have 700 yap yap yap we ran away along with the rest of the pa pvpish corps yap yap yap yap
Well anyway i hope the corps int he north rebuild so we'll have something decent to shoot when we come back, instead of log off/hide/10 pilot/poor gurilla tactics types which are up there now, we like big fat juicey targets something the north cant provided.

What I find interesting in all of this is, I remember reading in the forums about NSA being offered the chance to be under Bob's protection and mine in BoB's regions, etc. etc. Which was accepted by NSA and caused many corps to leave. So if my memory is correct, that sounds like BoB had every intention of staying up north. On the surface, it appears that they were not able to accomplish this goal.
