Need a bit of advice from some who have been playing longer than 5 years, please.
Weapons FOTM goes in cycles. I understand this. Currently, the Matari have the advantage.
When I first started, drones were the rage. A Myrmidon with 5 heavies was feared throughout the land, and the 'trick' that allowed you to deploy multiple sets of drones at a time was the ballz. After that nerf bat bloodbath, missiles were the end all be all. They, too, got shat upon. Now the Matari and their artillery rustbuckets are whizzing all over everyone's cheerios. Turnabout is fair, they did suck the big honking bo-bo forever.
The question is cycle times.
I stayed true to drones and missiles, and am just about to max the last missile skill.....drones have been maxed for a bit now.
Do I even DARE training hybrids in expectation? Or would Lasers be the next logical move.
Perspiring minds want to know.

Just train everything. It doesn't take THAT long.

Blasters are like a very fine crafted and extremely sharp Japanese sword in the hands of a sumo wrestler. Go with lasers.

Lasers already got boosted. At least their ships and t2 crystals did. They were dominating the fleet warfare until the artillery buff.
I'd say rails are next. They will finally become a 200km+ snipe platform with decent DPS. Not sure about blasters though.
Remember folks, CCP's best fine tuning tool is the Great Sledgehammer of Immeasurable DensityÖ.

With that kind of history perhaps you should look at something a little less stressful like mining.

When I first started about two years ago, everyone was complaining about how projectiles sucked and needed a boost. So I started training projectiles, figuring that by the time I had gotten all the relevant skills and ships trained maybe they would have gotten a boost.
I am very happy with the result.
