Rather than the æif youÆre not playing it my way your doing it wrongÆ muppet answer, I would have to say if your average new player was able to make enough isk to buy a PLEX in the trail period timeframe, then you can kiss playing for free goodbye. Most sell PLEX early in their life because they want the nice toys without the grind. If it becomes too easy when you start out to accumulate isk, you kill the market

Edited by: The Old Chap on 25/02/2011 10:33:57 CCP would probably not be too bothered if YOU were able to play for free right from the start via a buddy programme.
But scale it up. What if hundreds of players did that? Or Botters had the same idea? That is what would 'mess up the economy'.

Maybe and i mean maybe, CCP made the buddy trial just so your friends can check the game, and get some knowledge for a whole month about how it works, about how many options the player can build up his char career, and enjoy the concept of EVE as a whole.
Or do you really think that CCP designed the buddy trial so any player with several months or even years of experience can rack large sum of cash on some expendable account that can get rid off so it can benefit their main player??
It's an account for people who start playing not a way so the hardened vets can get in and powerlvl their way in a nonstop isk making project for absolut profit.

Trust me, you don't have to when you upgrade to full using PLEX.

The thing of course is that PLEX aren't unlimited, there's only as much plex as people buy - and CCP already have their money once the plex enters the game. Plex basically is a tradable "subscription fee payed for in advance". So why should CCP care who exactly buys and uses them?!

Pretty sure turning a trial into a real account never worked with (a single) PLEX.
I did this two weeks ago on a 14 day trial. I used a PLEX to convert it to a normal account.

i relaised that the trail accound restricted you to certain skills you were able to train and the like but i never knew they stopped you from taking lvl 3 missions ???? that does seem a bit excessive on CCPS's part

So your main makes 1.5b per week? What is the problem? Transfer iskies, buy PLEX, be happy. I don't for a second believe you are actually worried about newer players. Also the fact that you're willing to earn what 330m with lvl3 missions when it's chump change for your main is really weird. Doesn't add up at all. --

The question was moot anyway.
I went ahead and transferred 300 million from my main and bought the PLEX to activate. Couldn't generate enough DPS from rupture to run the L3 fast enough to generate 5 million ISK an hour anyway. Upgraded to BC and could get close-ish to 5 million with the extra DPS.
However, I by the time I'd done 16L3 and gotten first storyline, I was ready to run L4s anyway.
So, 2 weeks into the game I was running L4s in a BC for 10 million ISK an hour. Yeah, the new player experience has changed a lot since the removal of learning skills.
