Edited by: Droidster on 31/01/2005 10:21:24 I have not seen an official posting on the results. I think outcome was:
1st Lai Dai 2nd Wiyrkomi 3rd Hyasyoda
In the beginning of the race all contestants were transported automatically to the starting system L7-APB which is deep in Fountain. At this location multiple large mobile warp disruptors were deployed and we were instructed to move inside them. The waypoints were then announced on the private race channel:
#1 DB-6W4 Planet 1 #2 O-IVNH (search) #3 X-70MU 6.2 #4 PF-QHK (search) #5 3-QYVE 10.4 Finish: Y-1918 Planet 1
At each waypoint was a can with 10 "Gurista Ship Logs" in it. Somehow the organizers were able to make it so when a given contestant opened the can only their team's 10 logs were there (so you couldn't steal other teams' items). There was a event moderator at each can to make sure they wouldn't be camped.
Most of the teams (with 10 pilots each) had the strategy of sending pilots in pairs to each waypoint and rendezvousing before the final system.
There were a lot of poddings. Our team (Hyasyoda) lost at least 3 pilots and 4 or 5 ships, though we were able to get the requisite 5 to the finish line. At the finish line ISD scanned ships to make sure they had all 5 tags.
A serious problem arose when the Autaris gate in Vellaine stopped working and deposited jumpers back in Vellaine (after a delay). This blocked many racers. Some of the pilots however knew or figured out you can go around Autaris via Akonoinen and Jan.
Also, waypoint system #4 PF-QHK was heavily camped (not by Lai Dai--correction). We lost at least one ship there and the map shows 13 destroyed in the last 24 hours.
Overall there was some confusion about what the teams were supposed to do because the organizers kept the rules secret until the last minute, but otherwise the race was well run and very exciting. After the race was over the event team transported the racers back to their home systems. _____________________________________________ I am motivated by various things, mostly ISK. |

/me laughes at this.
Actually, they are MY enemies. They shot down both of our pilots who were to pick up the items. But after a bit of coercing w/ my wallet, they let us pick up the items and pass using shuttles and a newb ship. At no point in the race did we have any allies camping a system/place to kill others. Hell i lost my gistii stuff (as i'm sure others did as well), but it was worth it in the end.
I'd still like to say GREAT RACE and all other competitors gave me one hell of a run for the money.

It was fun :) Now after about 3hrs sleep i got to get back to the real world and go to work :( --------------------------------------------- Engineers motto; If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway. |

The Can 2 system was camped by a bunch of Rona-KIA.
The Can 4 system was camped by a solo RKK pilot.
The RKK pilot was under instruction to kill everyone not on +10 to RKK. He took down 9 competitors.

Thank you RKK
If it moves kill it. If it doesn't move, kill it. It might move later. |

I guess a system with one RKK pilot in it qualifies as being "heavily camped". _____________________________________________ I am motivated by various things, mostly ISK. |

Edited by: Deovina on 31/01/2005 22:58:45 If you look at the killboard: http://www.killboard.net/?p=stats_day&d=2005-01-31
You'll see that the first pilots to be killed were inside the Lai Dai team. [0:49 and 0:50]
The other teams should thank us that we "cleared" the camp with some isk ;).
