So the rules are as follows. *Players will be provided with a super character with all skills at level 5. *Players will only be allowed to pilot cruisers or assault frigates. *Each team will be assigned a faction, either Gallente or Caldari. *Each faction will start at their own station. *There will be a number of prefit cruisers and assault frigates for ease of accessibility, however players may fit their own with the following restrictions: o T1 base defensive modules only (armor reps, shield reps, hardeners etc) o T2 offensive modules (guns, damage mods, etc) o No remote logistics o The only ECM allowed is scrams, webs and disruptors o Allowed modules will be seeded in each station. o Players will be able to warp back to their station to get a new ship when they die. o This is a capture point contest. The teams have 15 minutes to capture the point. At the end of 15 minutes whoever has dominance of the point (the most control) wins.
Everything is pretty straight forward here.
I want to ask how large is the arena and what is the capture range of the control point and how does capturing the point work? It says we can use cruisers does that also include faction cruisers? Are rigs and faction/t2 ammo allowed? Are people allowed to warp out of the arena in their ships to repair or regroup? Is remote sensor boosting or using tracking links on the team allowed?

Do tournaments and other arenas fit in EVE or don't they?
I'm always puzzled that a lot of players don't want arenas but love these tournaments, which basically are arenas.

Yup, players are humans too, therefore mostly idiots. They can't separate the concept of "arena" in their mind from what they think means consensual PvP mechanics for the entire game instead of just this one small area of space. Call them something else (like, say, automatic permanent tournaments) and have exactly an arena mechanic and everybody will gobble them up and praise them to high heaven. :sigh:

Looking at the rules your stuffed if you have a Gallente fleet. All you need do is stay at range of those great hybrid weapons, spam missiles and even if you get near the hybrids use some tracking disruptors, or even neuts. Smarties for any drones. I feel the only Faction you get being Gallente ,or Caldari gives such an unfair advantage to Caldari its mad. Gallante will deal Kin/Therm, + drones....have crap Hybrid weapons which use cap. Caldari can use missiles which no cap use , and can deal all types of damage. Scram, and web would be good to get into range, but the speed of Gallante ships is not super, and then u can just neut the baby to sleep and disable the guns etc...... Hopefully CCP will see how great the Gallente ships are after this and maybe look at the issue with most,(not all) of the Gallente ships.
Would be better to have PVP tournament with ALL Factions ships just to show the difference ...........

Elfen. as i see it, its probly more like instead of team1 and team 2 .. or team a and team b you will be named caldari and the other team gallente but can use all ships.

I think this just dictates your seating arrangements or on which side of the screen the observers have you on.
