We setup to supply ice, different kinds of ice for customers, different bases, hq and a general mineral base.
If your corp is not just pvp or missions then you may need several bases.
Plus it took months to get into a good sector, with labs and factories. We where planing to grow our number of members.
Guess your not in a corp that does more that one thing.
I guess I deserve the 'nippyness' having used the rolling eyes..... so my apologies
However, May I suggest that the office rental market is suggesting that your 3 man corp is biting off more than it can chew?
Maybe when making your weekly deliveries - instead of dumping it in the corp hanger, escrow it directly to your clients.
You could make 1000 escrows a month (if you really wanted to ) and still get a fair bit of change out of 1 mil isk - also I believe you would avoid market transaction tax.... I don't really use it so not sure.
Just a thought anyway.
I guess what i am getting at is that if office rent high - lets say 10 mil a month, you have to decide am I making more than 10 mil a month by having the office.
Take it a step further and say - ok I am making more than 10 mil a month - but can I make the same profit without the office - if so bingo - 10 mil a month extra profit.
Of course some people - as in real life - like the status symbol of property.
Whatever you decide to do - I wish you the best in your endeavours.

There is one big way that this analogy breaks down, though. In the real world, if things like research labs, factories, or offices got outlandishly expensive, someone would just build some more to take advantage of the profit making opportunity. Eventually the cost would stabilize at a rate high enough for the builders/landlords to make a reasonable profit and low enough for most renters to afford if they have a well managed business venture. Until CCP allows players and corps to build and rent out office space, factories, and labs, the economics of these features will remain seriously out of whack.
I completely agree with you. However, if I may extend that thought just one step further, how about ccp owned stations that do not have modules at all. Players could bid to install player owned modules on the station creating a tiered system of play. Those corps that have achieved certain level of success can now invest in these expensive modules and rent them out to other players. Of course, the NPC station owner would charge the module owners a rental fee while they, the module owners, charge players a fee to rent the slots. I think it would be interesting to see capitalism at work as now module owners will start advertising their space and remain competitive with other module owners both in the same station and other nearby stations. I think such a plan would enhance the economic aspects of the game creating another playable component in the ever expanding universe of EVE.
Unfortunately, in the real world, although there may be the desire and business opportunities (ie. profit!) to build more offices, labs etc it is not always possible to do so where the hotspots are - because there is simply no more land available.
Hence why in many areas of Central London - small businesses cannot afford their rents and move out - while big chains move in.
The main way new offices etc appear in real life is through outwards urban sprawl - away from the centre....
much like what will happen in eve - urban sprawl made up of smaller corps will expand outwards from the expensive central locations.
CCP would like this as this spread will mean people actually use systems away from the Highway hubs.

To those of you who are complaining - were you actually around before this was implemented? If so, did you already have offices? Again, if so - you're lucky. So many corps want to get started in EVE who did not have an office. Not only that they had no chance of getting one.
I've not increased my property holdings since this was implemented, I already had every office I needed yet I still supported this change for the good of the game.
I still support it. My rents have increased MASSIVELY and, until they don't become profitable, I will continue to pay them. When they do become too costly I shall re-evaluate.
Well done CCP, the change is having the desired effect.

It is not 3 mil.! 4.4 mil X 6 offices is 26.4 mil , 6 labs + 2 factories @ 440K each 3,502K per 5 days or 21 mil a month so if nothing goes up that is 47.4 mil a month for our 5 man corp(2 inactive) to pay for rent, but rent has double each month, so think what march will be. soon the best sectors will be 10 o 20 mil a month at this rate for just offices. Try telling me that a small corp can come up with enough to keep 4-6 offices at those rates.
why do you need 4-6 offices? If you only have 3 active players why do you need them? I opperate on the edge of 0.0 and in 0.0. the closest office to me is 12 jumps, if i'm in empire. I can still store more goods, use the repair, market, refinery, medical, ect. Sounds to me that many businessmen need to take a closer look at their balence sheet. In real life lot's of small companies thrive even in high cost areas. You just have to be a better businessman. Otherwise maybe you should fold up your corp and hire on else where. Just a thought

The only reason to have an office in a particular location is if you are making more profit by having it than if you didn't AND make more profit than the rental costs. If you are achieving this profit - good for you - pay the rent and deal with it like everyone else there. If not then move, why bankrupt yourself to pay for something isn't paying for itself?
Same with labs - if the research or copying you do in each rental period is not worth more to you than the rental cost then why rent it?
Common business sense really......

Exactly - the small shops that thrive in high cost areas make more in profit than their rental costs - if they don't they move or go bust.

I've done my bit for the wee man. I've let all the corp's offices go unrented. Then I'll go find a system where I can mine in peace. I hate hub systems. I hate stations with agents in them that make the place busy. I detest research. Let me and my veldspar be at peace.

Edited by: Shemaul on 16/02/2005 23:59:53 Ok, i like the news, more offices free, no more offices rented and abandoned, free space for all.
But, i come from a Corp that take some stations in the early game age around the universe. Now i see bills go up, and up..i wanna unrent, but some of them are in deep space sys, and KOS make reaching it impossible.
I know there's no way to "unrent from distance" so, if i DON'T pay..how long it take to unrent it automatically?
Witch kind of "malus" should i expect for holding a office without paying (drop in sec status with faction that own the station?)?
Is my Corp wallet affected in any way if i have money in it but i refuse to pay?
I like this new rent way, but i got scary it turn against my native Corp. Pls help me and clear my doubts! :(

I just hope that CCP also apply the same policy "of prices increase" on the fee to play EVE
Would be nice to see EVE LAG FREE ... so less players more Server OUTPUT... LESS LAG.
Go... Go... Go... CCP!
Stop increasing office and lab prices but increase the fee to play EVE

After 30 days the office is automatically unrented coz u have not paid it in time.
So you don't need to fly around to unrent.

In the sell orders forum today there have been two auctions of "job lots" of offices.
A total of 40 offices between the two auctions are for sale, if they don't sell they will be unrented.
Those who think this isn't good for the game, see my above post.

All these increases will, like posts before this have said move the Eve economy forwards. What happens in real life if ypu can't pay? you move. Thats what I have had to do - 13 jumps from my original HQ I found unrented lab slots at only 300k. A nearby station office rent at 10k. Even as a lone player I can sustain that. What I hope will happen is that prices will stabalise as people move out of the population hot spots. A more diverse market over a larger area will come into effect. (get training them trade skills!!)

Well then pray that no one else goes there too.
But u need to factor one thing too.
Why most of the 0.0 and 0.1 offices that I visited are costing more than 11m?
Then why most of the offices from 0.1 to 0.4 are currently costing from 2m to 9m?
then why 0.5-1 offices are costing from 2m to 6m and some already over 10m?
Well someone "CCP" forgot a thing here...
Are u able to move ur corporation containers to a new office? If you are able them let me know which ship u use... or should we wait for TITANS?
This STUPID IDEA of incresing office prices are damaging small corporations... but AGAIN CCP SHOWS THEIR OWN COLOR...
Would be nice if CCP also advertised the game as ... "Don't bother play EVE if u cannot afford to play 23h a day... also if you cannot afford office rentals."
Ah! BTW don't reply saying "market thing" coz I leave a takeway reply... for u to fit that "market thing" in one hole and feel it increase 100% size each month.
For market thing would make more sence (COMMON SENSE) and fair to all parties... if the cost of an office were increased purpotionaly to the number of offices open. But this is difficult to get in some people in ICELAND... might be to cold out there.
This is offices increase are making this game to be so damm stupid to be played.
I WONDER WHY CCP does not apply this STUPID IDEA to the price of playing this GAME...
At least CCP would have make their name fufiling one of their lost promisses of LAG FREE with EXODUS.
LESS PLAYERS = LESS LAG + MORE OFFICES + MORE LABS AVAILABLE
CCP (EVE-DEVS) u again go it WRONG!

Oh, stop. So you can't keep your prime office slot for your two man corp in Rens anymore. Now maybe a corp who could actually use it, and make much better use of it, can have a chance. Rent hikes have forced corps with hundreds of offices to give up ones they don't really need. You can find plenty of offices at reasonable rents in stations with good facilities in systems two to four hops from the hubs.
Before the change, new corps were screwed because there simply weren't any offices to rent. After the change, a corp with a decent cashflow (and lets be honest, 10 million a month is pretty cheap) can rent an office in a good location. Might not be DED Yulai, but its not some complete backwater in low-sec either.

You are thinking a bit to short
A office you rent today for 10 Million will cost you 41.161.355,95 next month. Not so cheap anymore i would say. Prices follow now a expontial function!
y = 10.000.000 * e^(0,05x)
2 month from now your 10M office will 177.897.008,52! 3 month its 768.860.619,52!
One side note: i know that several offices are rented to dead corps! No one is freeing these offices.

No it does not reproduce a real live real esate market. Nor does it capitalism. We have now a raise of 100000% in prizes. Space and even a single solar system is vast. So there is no lack of space - remember als the foundation stone missions? With the huge increase of income from rents in a capitalisitc system some of this income would have been reinvested.
In capitalism and real live if some prizes jump even 100% new parties would start to invest in a given market and increase the supply. So the raise in prizes would be compensated by the increase of supply. The pc you are using does not cost 200000$/Euros it costed as PC came up. Nor does your real live PC has the same performance then the 1st PC on the market. Real live means dynamic on both sides - supply AND demand.
Here one side is frozen.
The supply side (ofices space and so on) is static.
Sorry but what ever it is it is neither real live nor capitalism. It is monopolism.

Ok, so let me get this straight.
You have 22 members. You can't earn 10 million in 30 days to pay office rent.
Honestly, just stop playing the game. I tried being nice and polite, but it seems like all you want to do is whine. Now I'm starting to like increasing rent hikes. Players have to be somewhat competent in order to remain in a player-run corporation.

One person can make ~10mill per day by MANUFACTURING alone. It needs to be a good day but 40mill per week is standard. And for manufacturing you don't even need to be online that much - I buy my minerals.
So, yes, 10 mill per month is sth I'd not even notice, let alone a whole corp.

I have just rented 8 offices. 1 cost 2m isk, so, rather expensive, but most of the others where 10 000isk.
I am in a small corporation, and I can't stay in PATOR or YULAI. I can stay in some backwater part of the world. And ****, tell me, HOW many small corporations have offices in Times Square ? or on the waterfront in Tokyo?!? heE?? only the small corps makeing lots and lots of money, and the BIG corporations that want a nice spot.
There have been no plussess for the megacorps IN this game before last patch. Now they are starting to come in. Say a 500 man corp, paying 50million for an office.., that is 500k / head. That is the same as the 1.5m isk the 15 man corp pays.
Offices have been selling at 100m isk in key systems earlier, and people have been begging corps to let theire office they don't use go free on the marked. They have figured, why bother? 10 000 isk , peanuts...
Now, PAY the rent or move the ***** out. This is a game that are about corporations and cooporation. The BIG corps will win over the small corps, and that is the way it SHOLD be.
Now, I hope you whiners can cancel your account asap, so we don't have access to these boards.
