He did indeed. But he should either hire some programmers or sell the darn thing to somebody who could/will develop it further. And make some better graphics for the love of God!

Yeah, what a weird and alien concept that people should get paid for their efforts and we as customers have to pay to be entertained. This is wrong, it shall not stand!

**** you. Minecraft is awesome specifically because of the way the graphics are designed. Plus, most of us smart folk bought it back in Alpha, got it cheaper, and guarenteed everything in the future for free.
Notch has already started Mojang (His company) and hired a decent amount of people as a startup thing. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I don't find it particularly expensive for a one-time deal. We pay that much PER MONTH for EVE. Well, some pay, anyway. _

Funny, people say that about eve players all the time.

graphics != game. plus, thats the style they are going for, cube. don't like it? there are texture packs and mods that make it look better. notch is doing fine, he is developing it at a good pace and it is not that much money.
here, check this out. It is a mini-documentary about notch, minecraft, and his company. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBF2ugTzXqQ&feature=feedlik

Edited by: Richard Aiel on 26/02/2011 19:07:47 Lol at the idiots that are willing to pay for that crap, especially as its like NES graphics and its a Beta.
Its against my programming to pay for a beta
How sad is it MINECRAFT made it into this: http://www.artofvideogames.org/[/ur]
But not EVE Especially when its called the ART of video games
Originally by: Cygnus Zhada Yeah, what a weird and alien concept that people should get paid for their efforts and we as customers have to pay to be entertained. This is wrong, it shall not stand!
Yeah keep preaching that when other ppl catch on that paid Beta is a profitable idea and they put this into general use.

Even funnier is that by simply linking the purchase page the op has most likely sold a few additional copies.
As to the game itself its pretty fun for a while but you get tired of making stuff just to make stuff as the npc are not really any challenge past the first few minutes until you get your first shelter up. Now what would really make the game fun would be to make a new mode of play that is set up like a normal fps lobby with game maps listed along with a different set of game mechanics so that each team would spawn at its own area and then have to make all the stuff they need to kill the other guys using the local enviroment. But add in lots of new weapons and other killing machines so you could eventually get to the point you are shelling each other with artillery to knock down the other guys castle walls and rush in your combat armour troops with laser guns and plasma grenades. Now that would be uber if done correctly. Hell I think I'm going to think about this for a bit and then make a post on the minecraft forums.

More like when the servers were down for days during the web server upgrade. Anyway, is Mojang hosting any multi-players servers yet?

It's still the best under $20 game I have played in ages. Plus he is still adding to the game and has the potential to really open it up to multiple play styles if he listens to his rational forum base. Tbh I am waiting to see if he stays true to his indie roots and keeps the game primarily fan based or tries to go for the mega dollars and hires some generic marketing firm with little to no morals to try to replicate the horrible gameplay wise but highly profitable mw2 franchise that only exists because gamerz r dum.

And it should also be pointed out that Yahtzee liked the game and approved of it.

This thread makes me sad.
Paying a (completely insignificant if you have a job) fee which then gives you the entire game + updates for all eternity, while supporting an up and coming developer, is stupid? What?
If you don't like minecraft, don't buy it, and shut the **** up.

your just a troll, the game has always been20%. in aplha it was 50% for all future updates for free.
now it's only 25% off
and it when it's out it will be 20$.
20$ for a game is reasonable beyond reasonable, that's like one diner out.

I refuse to buy new games any more because I really don't see the point in paying 60$ for 8 hours of digital enjoyment. That's just my personal preference though.
15 euros is about 30$ though, so that's a MUCH more reasonable price for a game like this.
Just my 2 cents.
