Home = ISK.
Home is something I've never had much of a concept of in Eve. It's normally easier to sell ships and buy new ones at a different location than move loads of them.
Nullsec changes hands a lot, so I've never felt at 'home' there. Certainly nothing like the trailers make out of fighting for your own bit of space.
Strangely, wormholes are the nearest I've ever had to a 'home' due to the logistics involved and long term deployment in one hole. |

I have a fair bit of crap, so wherever I move it, that becomes home for a while due to the effort involved in moving. I usually anchor one or two things, get to know the area, maybe set up some PI (that reminds me...), and that makes it feel more homely. Currently, home is Hjoramold.
"Home" is one of the reasons I want corp-independent mini-POSes. I'd feel much more at home if I had my own built-up-over-time little shack out in deep space to keep my ****, instead of parking in an anonymous NPC station with twenty other pilots. 'Home' for me is the system where I've currently set up shop, put my spare ships, spare junk, my BPO library, etc. The different stations kinda like the different 'rooms' I guess.
Though I still remember my old stomping grounds fondly, whenever I am in Hek, I just get all nostalgic about when I was a noob, running missions here, mining, then finding out about exploration, and starting up my ore and mineral trade, expanding t manufacturing.. Ohh good times... I learned a lot of the things I use today down there. Nowadays just with bigger numbers ;)

It only really starts to feel like home once you've set up a POS or outpost in it IMO. When you're sitting in an NPC station anywhere, it never really feels like "home". This is one of the things I think could be worked on by the devs to make Eve much more... fluid. Some method of designating a home station or home system, if you will, in high sec where you can personalize your captain's quarters or hangar in general. That plus personal space stations that are basically larger captain's quarters where you can anchor up on your own and dock and such, but that might only be any good if they ever get WiS fully realized, where you might be able to install side-games and stuff in your station where you might be able to play for isk and such. Something like this would truly bring in a lot of subs also, I think, since this appeals to Eve for a LOT of people, and if you only allow one station per account, then I would think Eve would have more than enough room for all of them. Possibly not. I guess I can't accurately estimate how much space that would take.
I would also like filthy strip clubs and bars realized in Eve, but I realize that will probably never come to fruition. |

Being in a 0.0 sov alliance I consider "home" whatever system our alliance is staging out of while deployed somewhere. Whenever we're not in a war then home is our main system in our territory.
However, I've never had a real feeling for any particular system besides a class 5 wh system I was in for a few months before I even had 10mil SP and only 1 toon. I loved that shithole and the friendships it forged. The remote feeling and attachment is like no other.
Now, the only home-like feeling I have is wherever my corp and alliance bros are at, so wherever they are at is home to me. In short what I am saying is that "home" to me is mainly the people you surround yourself with, because that is what makes this game enjoyable. |

"Home" is for me the area where my main spent his first few months. It's a very boring and empty part of space and I would not want to live there today - but whenever I pass through I feel "at home" in a way that no other place in EVE can match. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

On an alt this is actually true. I have him in a exploration fit pilgrim and just pick a random direction and go. Scanning systems for radar/magnetometric sites, sometimes dip into a WH but usually just as a gateway to a reach another place in K-Space. When ever I pass near a trade hub I dump loot and move on. Only assets I have is those in my ship, and no home.

The longer I spend in this game, the harder it is to move all my stuff. It's not just the multiple rigged battleships and dozens of smaller ships, it's containers full of BPO and BPC, raw materials and intermediate products (I often have a enough T2 materials to fill a hauler), spare modules and alternate fits, long term investments (like hundreds of navitas waiting for the rebalancing). Plus buy and sell orders worth half a billion, manufacturing and invention lines on the go, a POS for research, and PI planets.

Really, what it boils down to for me are places I've flown out of for extended periods of time. One happens to be where my corp is based, another is where I've pretty much lived on and off for the last couple of years, another is an old 'hq' of mine where I used to mine and where the second corp I ever joined was located. |

I dont have one tbh. Ive been all over New Eden. Its the ship I fly or the accounts I have logged in. But in the game itself Id have to say its nowhere and everywhere. Its where I am atm. The "ground" under my own two feet, proverbially the Captains Bridge or the station I dock in to toss my **** and jacket on. Im a space junkie and tbh Id rather be out there than docked somewhere. Ive lived out of POSes and thats not a bad home as its MINE, but to share it with others sucks balls. So stations arent my thing, at least to call home. And I prefer it that way....
Alone, wandering the stars in search of myself perhaps.
Riches and glory or fame mean nothing. All is fleeting.
Maybe Ive found it out here already, found myself and everything.
Alone in the vast nothingness, floating amoung the stars, immortal, like some god.
Shell casings burning at my feet, lasers streaming past my hull. But silence inside where it matters the most.
Maybe out here is home....
floating amoung the stars..... at the Journies End Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

This was actually a question related to the latest community Blog Banter - we've been experimenting with getting opinion from a wider pool than just those who make walls of text as a hobby. It's interesting to note the different interpretations of "home". Good stuff.
For those interested, the Blog Banter entries are listed over in the My EVE Blog Banter 39: Home thread.
There'll be a blog taking all your comments into account as soon as some poor bugger (probably me) goes through and summarises these 3 pages. Thanks again. Freebooted - Tech4 News - Incarna: The Text Adventure - Guild Launch EVE Correspondent |
