This last week marks the first anniversary for the official founding of The Phoenix Alliance. All of the members, both old and new, take great pride in this accomplishment, and while we are looking toward the future of our second anniversary, we also take this time to reflect upon the history of our founding and growth. Many changes have occurred both inside and outside of our alliance, and although some of these changes have not necessarily been good, all of them have provided us the impetus to consider how we can improve ourselves and our relations with others in the universe of EVE. The Phoenix Alliance embraces change inasmuch as its mythical namesake; for it is by change that we both recognize our need to rebuild, and it is by change that we act to reclaim our goals and vision. Many have viewed these changes as either the symptoms of our failure, or as reasons to pursue our destruction, but the Phoenix continues to rise from the flames of these adversities to reform and renew its commitment as an organization dedicated to a family of corporations seeking good relations with its neighbors.
As I review our alliance's history from its beginnings to the present day, I also consider my own history; beginning as just another soldier following orders to my present role as the elected chairman of the Leadership Board. Each step of the way has afforded both me and our alliance the opportunities to embrace change and act upon it; taking us all from a loose collection of corporations with a few common goals to a structured organization whose adopted Charter continues to guide us toward a better future. The changes that have occurred most recently in our alliance have brought me back again and again to read the opening statements of the Charter we adopted a few months ago. Let me share it with you so you can better understand the goals and vision we have:
The Phoenix Alliance Charter and Bylaws STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Phoenix Alliance (PA) is founded on the principles of integrity, honesty, and representative democracy. The PA exists for the purpose of securing the welfare of its member corporations. The PA seeks good relations with all of the other alliances/factions within the EVE universe.
_______________________________________________________________________________________ The current leadership and members of The Phoenix Alliance continue to be committed to our goals for good relations with all other alliances and factions as well as our vision of a representative democracy operating with integrity and honesty in those relations. As with all human endeavors, we have sometimes fallen short of these commitments due to the failures of individuals and organizational structure. The worst of these failures have resulted in accusations which have escalated into heated exchanges that eventually ended in armed conflict; carrying with them a weight of actions and reactions that have made it difficult to establish the true reasons for their origins. Even though I would personally like to know all that had happened, and achieve an objectivity that would provide the gift of truth, I fear too much time, hatred and war has passed for anyone to be able to unravel the mixture of fact, fiction and supposition that surrounds these failures.

What I can tell you is this... although we cannot change what has past, we can affect what will occur in the future. We can learn from the collective failures of ourselves and our neighbors for the benefit of all of EVE by continuing the great strides we have made in rebuilding and reforming our alliance to hold onto honor. To recognize our commitment to honor, you should know that the first duty I chose as the chairman of our alliance was to formulate and have the Leadership Council unanimously accept our charter. This charter was based upon what I deemed a very worthwhile document; the old NVA Charter. The acceptance of this charter was followed by establishing a Board of Directors; implementing an organizational structure meant to serve the alliance and its neighbors in preventing any future mishaps in how the alliance was governed and how our relationships with our neighbors were conducted.
It is with a firm hope and commitment that we who now form The Phoenix Alliance can learn from the past and move forward to a better future; extending our collective hand in a gesture toward improving relations with those who have at times been our friends and allies, even our enemies, as well as those who do not know us directly. We want all of the community of EVE to know that what has occurred in the past may be regrettable, but it does not make it impossible for our new leadership to do all we can to insure a better future for us all. Your reasoned voice will have fair and equal consideration in how we deal with problems and issues that arise with our intention of achieving, as best we can, the vision set forth in our great Charter. As with The Phoenix, we are yet rising again, willing to pursue what is right so that the community of EVE will know that we are alive; renewed to the things that have, and continue to make, The Phoenix Alliance great.
Long live The Phoenix Alliance

The NVA coulda pwned tbh.
If it had listened more to Jade and less to the backstabbers who have now gone.
Everything that the NVA stood for was shafted when Jade was removed.
Hope you do learn from the past.

Good luck on your future endeavors PA. It was an honor fighting against, and with you folx in this war of past. Until the next time we see each other on one side or the other, may your corporations and alliance prosper as it should.

Oh man! That was so funny I almost ****ed my pants.
Remind me to some day dig up the chat of Miso and Jade talking about how stupid the average NVA player is and how they couldn't give a rats a$$ if the alliance lives or dies.
Nice post Cochise. What are you guys going to do with all that space now?
P.S. I wrote the NVA and the PA charters.

Since you have been around for less than a day ( ) I will forgive your misunderstanding and just offer you a quick dose of enlightenment:
Jericho is not anti-alliance. Jericho never was anti-alliance. Jericho is anti-territorial. Jericho always was anti-territorial. Jericho never claimed to be anti-alliance. Jericho has always worked in support of it's anti-territorial ideals.
If you think the only reason to ally with someone is to close down space and shoot neutral traders while shouting "this is my space", then that speaks for you. Your view on the reasons for alliances to form doesn't limit other people from co-operating under one face and one banner, though, does it?
Anyway, nice initiative and good luck, PA.
EDIT: BTW, could I have the ban on the PA forums lifted? Mr. Wilson kind of banned me when my debates became uncomfortable during the war.

Thats the greatest nonsens, since jade:
JF was member of VA, a territorial alliance. JF was member of NVA, a territorial alliance.

Congratulations Cochise as the PA Chairman and well done for admitting that there were mistakes and problems with the past. Takes a big man. I joined the NVA with my corporation all those months ago when it was a good and positive alliance with high hopes and spirits for a free Venal and open land for all and it was a terrible thing to watch it be torn apart by profiteers and politicians until there was nothing left.
If you are going to seek the spirit of the NVA and open the northern regions then it'll be a bold step and you'll have proven a far better man than the leaders that came before you in the PA.
Well done.

I'd like to add my congratulations to you Cochise on your chairmanship and your adoption of the NVA charter. We have all made mistakes and failed in different ways, but it is truly admirable when you can put the past behind you and step into the light of the future.

Note how JF worked within those alliances to turn them in the freespace direction. Also have a look at the NVA charter, and who it was that was booted when certain people wanted to turn the NVA to a closed-space alliance in both word and deed.
So simple...
