Don't have a battleship yet, but I want to have one very soon. I want to pilot a Tempest and would like to do solo lvl 4 missions.
I know the skills I need to put Siege Launchers and Howit 1200mm or 1400mm or to pilot a Tempest, but I'm not sure all my skills are high enough.
What skills would I need to perform well? and which level?

For easy foolproof lvl 4 ownage:
Caldari Frig 4
Caldari Cruiser 4
Space Ship Command 4
Caldari Battleship 2
Engineering 4 (5)
Shield Operation 4
Shield Management 1
Tactical Shield Manipulation 1
Energy Systems Operation 3 (4)
Energy Management 3 (4)
Energy Grid Upgrades 1 (4)

For Minmatar, the skills listed in the previous post are still good, just learn Minmatar ships instead of Caldari, and learn some projectile gunnery skills.

Neah.
Basically, as long as you can shoot torps, lvl 4 is piece of cake. Hell, the only reason I can solo them is because a Megathron has two missile hardpoints.
I'm told though that a Phoon can't kill a Mordus Mammoth even with 8 kinetic drones helping. Then again, what'd I know, I can't even pilot a Reaper.

I only have torps at lvl3 atm and killed the Mordus Mammoth solo.
Edit: In a Typhoon, of course ;)

What's the point of doing solo lvl 4 in a Typhoon rather than a Tempest?

It's cheaper.
And can actually PvP.
And it can fit 7 ballistic control instead of 6.
But, sure, tempest works too.

I use a very, very strange setup. I¦d not have enough cpu if I changed my ship, at least not until I have more named stuff. But the Typhoon seems to be the Minmatar ship of choice for lvl4 mission anyway, so I¦m not sure if I¦ll ever take the Tempest.

the only ship u can possibly solo a lvl 4 dead space mission is a Raven, thanks to 6 x cruise launchers and superb tanking abilities. Tempest would get smoked easily and megathron but not too sure about apoc. That ship and sound tactics will see u through, forget the rest for now!

Major, it really depends on which deadspacemission. The Spymissions e.g. can easily be done with a Typhoon.

6x cruise???? why not 6x siege? There is no, (NOT A SINGLE ONE) reason to use cruise launchers. You just need lvl5 all fitting skills.

raven and torps
get that and youll smash every lvl 4 spawn... typhoon struggles on mordus mammoth? raven kills it without activating its shield booster or going under 65% shields... heh

apoc can solo them lvl4 to, but the skills required are a lot since beams need a lot of cap related skills trained to a high level.
and that mordus guy was a walk in the park with some mega beams. The slow fat drones in the "silence the informant" (?) deadspace mission is where i had the most trubble, dont shoot the turets :) |

Me likes useing Dom for teh deadspace and eutheptic cap rechargers = teh win with almost no ammo costs or worry. =Dom teh win.
