I never took part in any incursion fleets , so i wonder if rattlesnakes are a good ship to do incursions in ... the main question is if the sanshas will aggro my drones like sleepers do , or i`ll be able to do some damage myself ?

Edited by: insulubria on 03/03/2011 23:41:31 their attacking of drones, seems really really random. some times I do 5 overrides and nothing, then all of a sudden the battleships and bombers are torpedoing my hammer heads.
Ok anyways, first things first.
the scout sites can be done by a well fit frigate.
and pay next to nothing, so do those at will.
but DO NOT solo the next site up (vanguards) or anything higher than that.
watched a nighthawk try to do a vanguard yesterday. what a F***King ******, we're sitting there in 3 vindicators 2 bhaalgorns 3 guardians and a pair of navy geddons on the acceleration gate to a vanguard site. and he decides to go in before us.
I tell everyone on gate to hold and not move. we wait. 1 minute.. 2 minutes..
then we see caldari advanced battlecruiser wreck on directional scanner.
his drake buddy that followed 30 seconds after him also died.
the omen and mauler that followed us in salvaged the nighthawk wreck then died before warping out.
This was just yesterday. I thought all the hero's got purged in the first week of incursions :D
incursions are team play, its like eve just got hardcore COOP/King of the hill
you'll see what I mean about king of the hill when you do a mothership site.

To answer your question succinctly, yes, the Sansha's Nation enemies will aggress your drones. They tend to ignore lights for the most part, but when we tried fielding heavy drones with a Domi they were quickly targeted. Your mileage may vary, but if you're in a shield fleet you'll be better off in a CNR if you're spending moderate isk on a faction ship. If you can fly a competent Nightmare, that's probably the best shield ship for incursions.
There is an unusual fitting for the rattler that turns it into a massive logistics ship that outreps a basi, but you sacrifice the bonused range and most fleetmates will consider it too much of a pain to monitor that distance.
If due to skills (ie no gunnery/missiles) you must fly a droneboat there's little point in spending the money when you can get a Domi.

Someone did ALOT of testing on the test server in a rattlesnake, he said he got owned royally by incursions.

Rattlesnake is viable, although obviously not a good choice. You just need to fit it properly. Do not fit shield extender rigs. The percentage sig penalty is so bad it's not worth it. Banshee torps don't do full dmg even on BS sized sig, those extenders will hurt you majorly. Extender mods are worth it, the penalty is flat and not too much on already BS sized sig. Aside from that, maximize resists, especially kinetic and explosive, for banshee torps. EM and heat, for lasers, take second place. Sentries do good dmg, and don't often catch aggro. When they do there's usually enough time to scoop.
