Dust or something from a slightly more popular company amongst the FPS crowd?

Given, at a guess, all of these games are going to carry the usual console pricetag of ú30+, can you honestly say "I'll try a few of them"

Actually I would probably play Dust because it has something to do with Eve. I usually find all the fps-games very boring. Yes, they might be fun for that 1-2h, but after that...you only shoot stuff.

How does Dust differ to that? It's a FPS and the genre is rather old\stale on teh whole. The only "innovations" to the whole thing that I can see in the past 5 years has been "shinier" graphics. Any that step away from Halo or a modern warfare setting seem to be forgotten reasonably quickly.

Because it affects Eve-online. Not just some random scoreboard. You do good in Dust (or they do...) and your PI gives more profit, thus means you get more ISK and thus better stuff and thus get more tears in eve. Basically the tears of someone getting blown to pieces in Dust will cause even more tears in eve. Tears are good.

interesting point. it remains to be seen though if tears in another game have any relevance to the fps console players __

It does sound rather "if you're real good at tetris then I'll do better in chess" tbh.
There's also the fact they've already said that neither game will be dependant on the other so I just wonder how much of a difference it'll actually make.
I mean... will I make pittence isk an hour from pi now

To be honest, I don't think DUST is going to have much impact to normal eve players. I think that the dust heads are going to be more like a new form of mercenary group for hire by the big alliances.
The problem is, you'd need to hire a metric crap-ton of dust players to shut down an alliances PI production. Even if that happened, I don't think that would have a huge impact to an alliance's ability to conduct day to day operations. PI is going to have to get a lot more important in that aspect if alliances are going to want to use DUST strikes.
Although, there could be other non-PI aspects the DUST players could get at, like covert station raids (take out the reactor and all upgrades are offlined), maybe a surgical strike on a cyno jammer to allow a surprise attack. Interior stuff like that would be insanely powerful tools to alliances.
I might give it a try, but I have a burning hatred for console FPS's....

Edited by: Antihrist Pripravnik on 04/03/2011 14:34:32 Console FPS = bad excuse for a FPS talking about DUST ofc.
(exceptions exist but are rare. Like N64 Golden Eye. That game rocked.)

I cant stand console fps, mouse and keyboard ftw for me. So in between eve I'll probably be playing battlefield 3.

PC FPS, only FPS I play. I don't own and don't plan on owning any consoles. Oh, and I don't play FPS games much nowadays. Had some mindless fun with Bulletstorm these past two days (good riddance), but before that, it was a long time since I touched a FPS for more than a few minutes, an hour tops, scoffed and uninstalled it. Last FPS to remain on my HDD for any noticeable period of time was Counterstrike 1.6 And that was almost literally ages ago. _
