What if there was a Priority Jump Gate set that allowed you to make multiple Jump journeys in 1/5th of the time?
Or use the existing system of gates and create a "Priority Jump Gate Configuration" skill with an 8x multiplier under the Navigation skill set which per level allowed the person to take 3 jumps in one. for a total of 15 jumps in one at level 5. -- But it also costs the user 250k isk per jump skipped non depended on the level. To help balance this, possibly only make it high sec, or for low/null sec the users ship is paralyzed for 60 or 90seconds after.
To go along with this there could be a Social skill something like "Jump Gate Connections" with an 8x multiplier which reduces the fees per jump missed by 3% or 5% per level. For a total of 15-25% off the 250k.
Just a thought.

definitely an interesting idea, it could be instituted that these "priority" gates will transport you to the corresponding factions capital (only empire factions would have these)
The only downside is that for faction warfare, it would give a direct path straight into the center of the enemies territory.
There would have to be some serious kinks worked out, but I would love to see some new content like this get introduced.

Hmmm... so an Orca Pilot who is already a Billionaire can move his Corp's ore from point A to point B at a hub faster huh? Pretty sure Jump bridges kind of do something similar... but yeah this sounds like it might be promising. I would love to make a 25 jump hop into a 12 jump hop for just a few hundred thousand ISKies.
+1 to the eventually un-buggy idea.

Clearly in 0.0 Jump Bridges are really priority stargates.
They cost a lot to maintain.
However in the last CSM one CCP Dev suggested removing them entirely, and not one CSM spoke up against the idea. So I don't think they'd implement something like this.
What might be a better way to do it is have a Jump Rig. Takes up 300 calibration and gives a ship 5 LY jump range, takes fuel by race types, pirate ships would take 1/2 isos from each race it takes to fly one. A small fuel bay is added that is sufficient to hold enough isos for 2 jumps. Unlike most rigs you'd need Jump Skills to actually use the Jump Rig.
But then there is still the restriction of no cynos in hi sec. Might allow a special Concord Cyno Generator obtained through Concord stations that would open a limited cyno in empire sufficient to allow ships smaller than carriers/dreads to jump into them.
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts.

Well although I understand that argument, it brings up the rebuttal "so what?" - Realistically the Orca pilot making that journey through high sec in a shorter time is not gaining anything significant and is actually losing revenue by paying the several million isk it would take to make a 25 jump faster. The only actual problem that could arise with the current equilibrium in game is that this would pretty much end gate camps as it would be very difficult to predict which gate would be getting the most traffic.
And if the time gained was of such value to large corps, perhaps the Priority Jump Gate Configuration fee could depend on the size of ships using it, frigs and such only cost 50 or 100k while Freighters, and Industrial Command ships cost 1m per jump.
Realistically if the fees were high enough the already established equilibrium in game would not be disrupted, but players who don't have a lot of time would still be able to traverse space more quickly.
And as an afterthought, In addition to the fee, a sort of "starbase charter" only a 'Priority Gate Charter' could also be required, one per jump missed or so which can only be bought at a concord LP store for say 10,000 LP for 50 or 100.
I think that it's doable and reasonable. Lastly: to fix the gate campers concern it could only be used in Empire space gates, which ties in which the concept of Concord.

Sorry but i see a hugh economical shift with something like this. Trade hubs would become very close to each other and trading gets easier. More people would start and price would drop. People could skip low sec routes instead of travelling the long but safe route, lowsec could lose a good amount of traffic since noone really needs to cross it anymore if not wanted.
The mass and maneuverability would become something that industrials dont have to consider anymore. Empire wars would become a shadow where a station would be the only place to tackle a target apart from stupid mission runners.
Only upside would be that the zerospace would become more reachable for its non space holders since you arent forced to use a bottleneck gate anymore.

sound similar in idea to the old highway star gates that linked allot of the main high sec systems together back when Yula was the main trade hub. CCP nuked the highway star gates to make eve seam big again so I cannot see them bring them back in the form of priority star gates in hi sec empire.
Also there is the eve lore to consider, gates have to be in pairs and take a while to set up. You are asking for any gate to connect to any other gate in range (3 systems) on the fly.
However I can see this maybe added as a new type of gate that is a little unstable so the empires only build them in allow sec and systems boarding low sec. Would make it easier to get in and out of low sec without having the gates linking low sec to high sec camped. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |
