I couldn't agree more with the sentiment here. The new sorting options (alphabetical and volume) are nice to have, but containers should remember their last setting - even if it effects sorting globably. Defaulting to alphabetical sorting is very annoying - especially when "200" comes before "50".
Workaround - the sort setting does seem to be sticky if you use one of the two named list options rather then the large icons.
Wishlist - when in alphabetical listing, follow key sorting conventions (such as Windows Explorer) where pressing a key will jump you to that section (e.g., pressing "M" would jump you to the first M in the list, say "Marked Generator"). Now THAT might make me want to keep alphabetical as my default sorting.
