Edited by: Ebodhisatva on 08/03/2011 13:41:21 I just read a very nice story who had (or still has) CCP involved, offering a seamless battlefield for up to 1000 players using Pikko Server load balancing product. It also supports eleven actions per second (10 movements plus 1 fire), a total bandwidth downstream per player of 420 kbit/s and more.
Can we remove stargates now? No more session changes? Everything seamless?
What's going CCP! Enlighten us!

I read the same thing, I'd like to see the lag, especially if there's destructable terain.
Also... Wouldn't this directly compete with dust?
I guess one more can't hurt

Quote: About one year ago, we were talking with CCP and we came up with this idea that if we made a MMO FPS in Unity, the technical achievement would be of such magnitude that it would even impress random women in bars
Lol.
Anyway how would this possibly be a competitor for DUST? They have nothing at all in common (not in the least because it is only a tech demo). DUST = generic console shooter #1312312 with as only differentiating feature that it might be slightly linked to the eve universe. This is seamless battlefield technology.

1 animation looks lol, like atari 2600 game 2 they claim 52 bytes per second per player, very weak number.

3. It's a demonstration of the technology you frakin tadpole, not some game they are trying to sell you.
4. Weak relative to what? Enlighting us perhaps.

Actually I'd only wanna participate in this tech demo/test if it was 1000s of squares shooting triangles at each other. Oh and they'd have to be equilateral. And pink.

That's 52 ASCII letters, per second.
