*Note this is not about game play*
Ok this really gets me. I go to reinstall Spore for a little nostalgic god play and come to find out I need a CD key. -__-
In the process of looking for it I got to thinking. Why the hell do I need a CD key for a game where each person has an account and the CD Key is not actually tied to said account? This makes absolutely no sense. Unless not being some sort of computer wizard excludes me from sort of skull and bones club.
EvE, I ask you.

Be careful with that game, you can only install it about 5 times or so.

Strange decisions like that are the main reason I won't buy and install Bioshock 2. If you're going to force me to install and run something I'm never going to use (Games for Windows) despite my intent to never run Multiplayer, I have no interest. This is on top of their decision to not pull the 'normal' DRM from the Steam install, like they did for Bioshock 1 (only reason I have that game now).
On the flip side, I've been (overall) happy with the Steam format. Didn't like the idea at first, but getting every HL1 expansion thanks to entering my (first edition) key made me drop the objections quick enough.  That and a several month addiction to Bejeweled Twist... 
Getting slightly back to the main topic (Spore), I do own their collector box but never installed it due to the DRM format. I've done that for several games actually - usually the attraction is from some new and interesting thing they'll drop in the box (in particular any video DVDs), not the game itself.

I bought the "delux" Galactic version of Spore to keep my gamer kids happy while we wait for internet at the new boonies/country house, only to find out you MUST have internet for the thing to "validate" or it doesn't work! Thankfully a friend came over with his 3G cell hookup one day, but to have a key, install limits AND this? Rediculous.
The game is quite entertaining, however.
I just found an old copy of Spore while unpacking; feel free to PM 'llondon hilton' on come-get.it/forum for the key.

I was kind of interested once spore was announced. It had lots of potantial, but then they messed it up big time, and we ended up with the sub par implementation that now exists.
But yeah, "student version" it. They had a ******ed DRM system thats not worth putting up with.
