Edited by: Sorsaposki on 09/03/2011 02:00:10 Ive been fiddling with PI fopr a week now and slowly getting the hang of it. Ive created two planets which extracts the materials and process them to P1 and are then exported to factory world to make P3 commodities.
I was just curious if its profitable this way?
I have 2 GAS planets which produce water, exlectrolyte, oxygen and oxidizing compound. These are to exported to LAVA planet with factories, to produce coolant and oxides and processed further to condensates.
Havent yet calculated the import/export taxes of the P1 materials, but i thought it should be that big of a problem.
My first two attempts to create this production line, was process the materials to P2 at the extraction planets, but i noticed i just dont have enough power to support all the buildings at one planet.
Skills:
Command center upgrade lv4 (was 3 when i made the system described in the post) Interplanetary consolidation lv2 (training 3 as im typing this) Planetology lv3 Remote sensing lv3
edit. Oh yeah, and ill add some pics when i get home from work :)

one thing with gas planets is their size even though they look like the buildings are close they could still be several thousand km away. One thing i do if im gonna build on a gas planet and try for 2 resources is to first look at the "info" on that planet and find its size i look fro ones under 18,000 km. I have seen some up to a size of 79 000 km so you can see they can get quite big.
when im mining base resources i try and get basic factories down on the same planet for two reasons 1. with cmd centre 4 skill you should have enough power to beable to do that. 2. it will save on export costs and will save room on your factory planet.
Even if you cant get your basic factories on your mining planets you should still have enough power on your factory planet to have a launch pad, 4 basic factories and 3 advanced. That will still give you output ever hour from your final factory Just place everything really close to your launch pad.

Actually i have basic factories at the gas planets. The process as stated in my first post is to extract P0 raw materials, then process them to P1, export to factory planet where make P2 and P3 commodities. I was just wondering if this is the most efficient way to do it.
So my gas planets contain the following :
2 ECU with heads 2 silos 2 basic factories to produce P1 1 launch pad to export P1
and my factory world :
1 launcpad to import P1 4 adv. factory to produce P2 1 launchpad as P2 storage 5 adv. factories to produce P3 1 launch pad to export/storage P3
This is the actual process order i have on these three planets. I really am trying to get the most efficient way to do it. Allready burned about 20 millions ISKs on first two projects

On my mining planets i usually run everything to my launch pad which is in the middle of the two ECU's from there the raw leaves the launch pad and goes to basic factories then from the basic's it goes back to the launch pad. so far i have not found the need for a storage building i just use one launch pad.
On my factory planet i have a launch pad which holds my P1 imports then they got to advanced factories and then P2 comes back to my import launch pad then from my import launch pad my P2 goes to my P3 factories and from there ti goes to the export launch pad. so on my factory planet i have two launch pads.

Lol pls no. With your resources you can sustain 1 adv. factory(P3) at 50% only.

The point having 5 factories at the end is, when i activate the route connecting P2 storage to adv factories they will process the materials alot more quickier than just one factory alone. On the other hand, i could make just one factory to grind P3 all the time and not just when i import materials to the planet..
Those factories arent working all the time.

Lady Atreides is right, however. One P1 sustains one P2, two P2's sustain one P3. Since you have only one P1 of each kind on your resource planet, your max output will be 1.5 condensates per hour.
Try producing coolant only. One planet for electrolytes, one planet for water, one planet for processing .... you should be able to keep 4 P1s running on each resource planet. That would mean 4 P2s, or 20 coolant per hour.
(current price in dodixie for condensates: 36k. coolant:6.5k.)
