So someone hired mercs to blockade Chelien, a system with one of the only ice belts this side of Jita, in an effort to control said ice belt and drive up prices.
So far they've only killed maybe 3-4 Exhumers over the past 48 hours and stated they will continue to destroy them until the miners leave.
Question is, anyone see this is maybe...a waste of time and isk?  |

It would be cool if this were a viable market warfare tactic, but it's way too easy to mine somewhere else, dump a massive load into a freighter, and ship it to where it needs to go.
Oh well. Their money. I'm sure that the mercs will use this as an example of their awesome efficiency.

OP -- you fail at reading maps.
Checking Dotlan, I count 4 systems within 5 jumps of Chelien that have ice  .

Just because they are ganking you in your favorite ice mining location doesn't make it a blockade. They could be (and I suspect this is the case) doing it for the lulz.
This is a game after all, its not all about spreadsheets guys, sometimes its about the fun.

I actually sat out there all day in my hulk and orca and didn't see anything.
Me and around 20 other miners..
And yes I had lots of lols taunting the person who hired the mercs.

We've emptied the ice belt on multiple occasions. I believe the isk paid is well worth it.

Everytime I've gone out there the ice belts are full of mackinaws, orcas and hulks.
