I believe they are charging for the HD stream because the amount they will have to pay for bandwidth and equipment merits the charge.

I am gonna watch it. I'd like to watch it in HD. But.. no. I remember the quality of the broadcast from last year and they are just not at the quality to charge people for. Even in HD, the camera was too far from the stage to make anything out, for one. Besides, you already position your game to rake in alt money. That is enough greed from you, imo.
If things have changed, please clarify.
If it were a 'Death to Botters' (in-game) t-shirt, maybe.

Nah, you're not paying for the HD stream. That's incidental. You're paying for the exclusive in-game t-shirt. Standard def is free, as are standard clothing.

It's not that long ago since a CCP employee said that there were "no plans" to introduce any microstransactions.
So... I'll take that as a "no plans yet".

It doesn't need a yet to mean no plans yet. Also, see your login screen for details of the first vanity microtransaction "cleverly" disguised as a "bonus"
