Originally by: Roxanna Kell I have 5500 battles on that game, once you learn it, you wont whine so much about being dinged. Gold ammo usually adds a little bit better penetration.
Eh? What? Whine? I wasnt whining at my shots 'dinging' and not causing damage when shooting the other tank in the back. I was laughing at it.
The biggest complaint that players of the WoT game have is the match system putting tanks that cant damage other tanks into the same battles with one another.
I'm laughing at that because I understand why the game is setup like that. It is setup to take advantage of peoples frustration at not being able to do anything and encourage them to spend RL money on better ammo and on faster training so that they too can get into the big boy tanks and own all the smaller tanks.
Yes, it is a free game... that the developers are trying to encourage you to spend money on because it would not have been made if they didn't want your money.
The game makers are trying to use psychology to make a buck. That amuses me.

Ok I finally went ahead and tried out wot for the last week of beta.
Its a literal blast.
Will it keep me playing day after day for years in a row like eve used to do? Nope.
Matter of fact I doubt it will even pry much money out of my wallet as even the light tanks are useful if you are in a competant platoon.
But as a nice pvp activity that only takes a few minutes for a few rounds of tank based action this is the best casual pew pew game out atm.
As to the comment above about low tier tanks getting seeded into high tier games welp you are the scout for your arty and not the damage dealer.
Can't wait for the 12th when everyone gets wiped and we all start out even again.

The question is, how long will it take before you find out you're the only one still playing EVE ? Eh? Eh?

ahhh Akita oh so smug, but he brings up a good point. Eve gets boring fast, real fast. I'm leaving as well, will I be back, most likely but not until I see an improvement to graphics and a facelift overall like the carbon technology introduced in incursions. Black Prophecy will probably keep my attention for a few months and I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 3. Enjoy PI and incursion and marvel at 2003 ship hulls while paying 14 a month, and getting "free" bug fixes.

Well ... when I looked at the WoT web site and watched some of the videos ... it pretty much looked like a shooter with everyone running around in tanks. The thing is ... tanks rarely engage each other at point blank range
This is a bit like CCP releasing videos of battles that look so good, yet in game they look crap.
its called a marketing video.
In real wot, especially in company battles and such, tehre is a lot of sniping from 500 meters.
Well if they market something as a point blank range shooter - what are people to think it is?
Actually ... 500 meters is pretty close but ... *shrug* it's farther than in Planetside. I can't remember about WWII Online ... that game was so buggy I ... just didn't play it enough to really spend much time in the tanks.
I assume you've got some good telescopic sights.
I saw how the artillery worked. I guess there's no infantry though.
Wow!!! WWIIOL! Someone else in the world knows of it. =) Many nice memories playing axis. To answer your question, in wwiiol, there were optics far beyyond 500m (maybe 2k) but your max range fire would be from an 88 or tiger with turret popping at 8000m. Beyond that it was angle shot city and anyones game.
(Giebby from wwiiol in DerTiger 501 iwth OJ commanding.. anyone else out there??)

To the EVE community, World of Tanks is little more than a medium for angry and bitter people to vent over and show CCP that "This time, WE MEAN IT!".

The thing is that I'm starting to think that this time a growing number of bitter vets really do mean it. Not that it will matter really to the greater game if incarna is a hit. Then any loss of players tired of waiting literally years for the basic stuff to get fixed or just simply finished in the first place will be replaced by the influx of new subs. As for this bitter vet I'm haning on the fence over eve until after incarna as I play wot and having a ball.
tl;dr
Is wot better than eve overall? Not even close as eve has so many other things to do than pew pew. But atm its still more fun than a lot of the unfinished content eve has in far too much abundance.

I tried it I liked it, but in order to run the game properly I need a better gfx card. If you are the type of player that can't enjoy eve until your skills are maxed out, then it's definitely worth playing OR you can play WoW.. |

Minor fixes is going to make it more enjoyable and pherhaps it will slow down the rate at which people become "bitter vets". But it's never going to get any allready bitter unsubbed vets back, they'll always find something to whine about and quit again.

The value of the game is NOT worth the price. As a player I get more bang for my buck with other games, and while I wish CCP success I just can't continue to waste time on "future" promises they are not delivering.
I think walking in stations is going in the wrong direction again and I'm not going to support a game when the developers are just interested in creating a virtual casino.
Thats up to you I guess. its a free world and you can play whatever you want to. Personally I think CCP are going the absolute correct way. With Incarna we are entering a full blown sci-fi game, and its not required to play either!
I also find it well worth the bucks, but then I have played for five years, and spent aproximately 1000 dollar in subs and timecodes! The neat thing is those who prefer other games would go to these games and pay the subs there! Thats why I dont pay subs for WoW! I simply cant stand that game, and as such I dont pay either! its a free world mister!
Besides, WoT is shyte.

But do WOT give you the satisfaction of killing a noobs uninsured battleship that he used a week to mine in high sec to get? Do it give you the feeling of playing the bad guy after assuring said noob you are a nice guy and you will not kill his ship, despite it being leagal target for you in hgih sec?
Do WOT offer real loss to the players? Do it give the adrenaline rush of taking a billion isk cruiser solo into PVP, and then managing to win over several other larger ships? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No. But is does supply copious very satisfying pew pew about every 15 minutes regardless if you have a noob tank or some t10 bruiser. In wot its not about making the other guy cry emo tears because you blowed up his plex funded epeen ship with your gang. Its about teamwork and winning the match.

I'd play it more if the IS7 didn't suck balls (ever since they increased the average velocity of the shells, nothing bounces). If i could do it over again, i'd totally get a t30. _______________________________________________ "If you want to taste the ground, feel free to attack." - Kenshin Himura

Try the 38h. Yeah its a low tier tank but its like having a heavy in those matches. Can you say 10+ kills per game?
