I was just thinking about joining in some faction warfare... But I really dont want to kill my standings with the other faction, and not be allowed in their space if I decide to call it quits later. Is it possible to not run FW missions, but still pvp against the opposing faction without losing standings? Or am I just screwed? |

It's entirely possible. Stay away from all the pve content in fw (missions, plexes) and just shoot the enemy and your faction standing will be unaffected.

Sweet, so if I go into lowsec and help capture bunkers with fleet mates, will that affect my standing? Also, how hard is it to dodge the PvE aspects of it? |

Greetings:
If you really get into the heart of FW, some where along the line you will become KOS (kill on sight) to the opposing military navy in their high sec.
However, there are various standing clean up plans you can use along withe diplomacy skill.
Thank you.

Hi donĘt listen to mara he is a known tool in the militias and knows not the dribble that flows from his orifice.
Capturing plexs to capture/retake a system will reduce your standings with the opposing militias.
Doing FW missions will reduce your standings with the opposing militias (they are not necessary to take part in fw).
Shooting and killing the enemy militia will drop your standings VERY lightly with each kill, if you avoid the 1st two activities it would take an extremely long time for these standings hits to mount to anything worth noting, the hits a so small 1 mission for the opposing militia's faction will undo about 100 kills worth of standing hits.
but either way, you must understand that you will be attacked by the enemy faction's Faction police. They do not warp disrupt or scram you, only web, so traveling in enemy territory is not difficult at all, all small ships will warp off before being targeted, and the big ships will be webbed and put into warp fasterą. They are not like concord or the normal police, you can kill them if you like (even thou more will spawn) etc. So the negative standings only become an issue if you plan to idle in the enemy factionĘs space.

This is false. I have personally been warp scrambled by faction police.

There is quite a bit of difference between the faction police the militia spawn and the ones a pirate spawns when they enter a system their sec status is too low for.

Sorry son you are Incorrect, donĘt make assumptions
There are 3 types of police, i may be confusing the names
1 - concord: they will web/scram/point you and then continue to give you rear loving, and only act on / against gcc players.
2 - ??? Police: They will point and kill you (no where near as quick as concord but still quick) ū they only chase/engage players with low security standing, i.e. -4 in a 1.0 system.
3 ū Faction Police: They will ONLY web you, and they are very weak in comparison to the 2 above, and can be kited/killed quite easly. And THESE are the police in question, they will only chase/engage enemy militia members or players with low faction standing
The fact that you said you have been pointed by them points to type 2. Either you had ****ty sec status for the system security level, or someone you where with did ū it is a known bug that if someone jumps in, in front of you and spawns type 2 (cause they have low sec status) then you jump in, you have a chance to be pointed by them (the type2). But even this bug is VERY rare and I have only seen it happen once.
So again enemy militia police will only web you, if you get scrammed/pointed something else has $@#@Ęed you over.

Faction POLICE (the ones that attack you for low standings/sec status) are different to Faction NAVY (the ones that spawn if you're in faction warfare and go into enemy high-sec). POLICE web and scram and apply EWar, Faction NAVY only web (and sometimes apply racial ewar). There is a bug where Faction POLICE who are already spawned on grid may transfer aggression to an FW member and scram them, but this is petitionable (It's happened to me a couple of times, and I always got my ships back).

Heh... sorry Liang, but that's incorrect. Faction Police are different from the Faction Navy. Police employ webs and scrams against people with low sec-status. Navy employ just webs.
To get back to the OP
Originally by: Acktose5123 I really dont want to kill my standings with the other faction, and not be allowed in their space if I decide to call it quits later. Is it possible to not run FW missions, but still pvp against the opposing faction without losing standings?
If you JUST wish to PvP and stick to strictly that then your standings won't be affected (except maybe the NPC militia corp, but the effect of that is almost negligible).
A bit of warning though... once you join militia "enemy" high-sec will kinda be off-limits as the Faction Navy will not like your presence (not even if you bring cookies). So if you join, say... Minmitar Militia... Amarr and Caldari space will become a "no fly zone" for you (unless you have something special in mind like quickly ganking a random militia member running missions or moving an industrial around). This effect will be lifted once you leave militia.

Capturing system plexes falls under the PvE aspect of Faction War and WILL affect your standings (every time your standings are raised for one faction, its [enemy] factions will like you a bit less). Bunkers on the other hand... not sure.
And yes, it is easy to avoid. Just don't do missions, plexes, or shoot the NPC faction's rats. _______________________

Bunkers don't give standings at all, so no change there.
