I believe I posted something about T2 and Faction Ship insurance being un-realistic a while ago though can't find it, so have started another one..
This time it's regarding my Tengu, that I recently lost.
Yes I know its a game, though we play this in Realtime with real people with real life situations in a virtual world. So there should be some realistic understanding to the things we are familiar with like Insurance and how it works in covering the overall cost of an item or possession you own.!
Example: You wouldn't insure your ú280,000 Ferrari if they were only going to payout ú13,000 if it was lost, stolen or written-off, so I don't understand why we have such un-realistic payouts for T2, T3 and faction ships in Eve..?
Please See Petition Body Below: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Eve,
What is going on with the insurance for the Tengu....!!
Platinum payout = 13,020,585.00. For a 280 mil ship is pathetic..!! Not including the subsystems..!!
I'm sorry guys but this is unrealistic and not worth insuring for such a ridiculous payout..!!
Can this be changed..?
Thanks.........CS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Furthermore to buy the subsystems for this was as much as I paid for this ship..!!

I think the only reason we have insurance at all is to keep the new guys from being completly screwed over when they lose their ships.
Oddly this has the opposite effect when it comes to industrial ships, by allowing low cost suicide ganks on them.

realistically, insurance makes money for insurance company. do not want that in a game.
low payout for higer tech ships is to keep their use low. working as intended. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

Dear Captain Skarlet,
Thank you for your mail regarding insurance of your Tengu. We regret to inform you that we do not insure warships in war zones. We have therefore debited 13,020,585.00 ISK from your account.
Best regards,
A realistic insurance company.

Whatever your speculation on their original purpose, insurance is breaking the eve economy now. It's just a massive isk faucet and common mineral sink, keeps bots in business and flushing the economy with isk. Miner bots pull minerals out of unlimited source (belts) 23/7, this minerals get popped, and magically turned into isk to make your isk worth less. What we need is more t2 flying and popping encouraged by insurance.

Noobs don't actually buy insurance for their ships, they get basic payout. Only suicide gankers are ones always buying platinum without fail.

If Eve insurance was to become realistic, they would either charge you an exorbitant amount or flatly refuse to insure you.
But this is a game and you should look upon insurance as a combat facilitator, rather than any RL comparisons. (Which I might add, are most always fail.)

Of course not. It's not meant to be.
It's a game mechanic to facilitate combat (or, more accurately, to reduce combat loss), not a business.

It's a fairly minor one compared to the big faucets. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
