okay, first off i'm currently a full-time player who used a 2nd account to monitor and update my one and only lab, that went poof today.
- I'd noticed earlier in the week that my rent bill had the date "feb 3rd" before i hit "pay bill"
- I made sure i looked at the Basic Expanded Cargo BPO (it was virgin) progress total time and it said approx 9 hours - for 10 PE
- confident that i'd done everything correctly, yet again, i exited and went along my business
- i'm checking corp account section and noticed a number of hours later that my lab wasn't on the 'rented' list
- heart sinking, i logged on with my labrat and sure enough the lab slot i was using wasn't mine anymore
- for a second i thought it'd screwed up and i'd not checked up on the lab for over 9 hours...i checked the PE on my bpo and it was only 1
okay, so my conclusion is that if your rent comes due, your current bpo might only go for 1 run and cycle out.
Now, i'm dead certain 9 hours isn't one run for a basic cargo expander bpo. ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

One thing I'd like clarifying: when you pay the bill, do your rental days start from when the old rental should run out, or from the day you pay your bill. I'd hope it was the first, but can't be sure... ----------------------------------------------------- Member of STK Scientific [STK-S]. Come see us at http://www.stkscientific.com |

I have lost a total of 25 lab slots to this bug and CCP have advised this is a known bug, but as they cannot replicate it, they cannot return lab slots back. Kinda sucks considering the time taken to acquire said lab slots in the first place.

If they can't "repro" it, they can't even start to fix it. It's a triage system...We've got to narrow down how it happens, because i'm sure it doesn't happen ALL the time. or perhaps it does, and we don't notice it - simply because lab ops is such a demanding micromanagement job. If one of us could "repro" it, then CCP would be a hell of a lot more interested.
Wish they'd give a bunch of lab slots to some official "bug hunters", on the test server, and have at it.
I mean, it is sort of important since they hype researching in the starter kit. They can't promise this stuff to n00bs and then make it next to impossible to not only gain, but KEEP lab slots.personally, honestly, i don't give a damn for lab slots anymore. it's just too damn depressing to find the holy grail, nurture it constantly, and then see it merely go poof regardless of how consistently careful you were with your ONE lab slot...why should anyone bother who's not into mass producing BPCs of hellishly expensive items? it's simply retarded that i spent 10 days researching basic ammo bpos to PE 10, and then realize it was simply a waste of anyone's time doing that or anything else. (the time lost to micromanagement i could have made up the savings by mining veldspar in an AFK indy)
It simply begs the question: Why have labs if not for ATM machines for already insanely rich folk?
Why don't they chuck the idea of lab/factory slot purchasing and simply enable the service icon to bring up your lab/factory window when you have an office at a station with such a service? (thus limiting this to corporations and sharing the corp slots available)*shrug* figure the corp skills could increase the number of slots enabled...and lab ops would limit your usage of such. Or, you could just divide 32 slots by 16 available offices giving you 2 lab/factory slots per office.
*Shrug* or you could just do it for lab slots and leave the factory system the way it is...dunno. Besides, all the exploits you could throw at that idea are probably already in full swing with the current highly fubar system. Heh, althought i'll probably be flamed by "solo" artists thinking they'll get more by yelling for individual benefits.
besides, this kills two birds with one stone: you'd not have to worry about someone stealing your lab slots unless they got director level access and unrented the office...if you were smart you could even track them down (if you paid attention to the other offices) ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

did you lose the, lab after the fact, or just noticed it unrent in front of your eyes? ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

I noticed my email flashing and the lab went into unrent mode in front of me, luckily I was quick enough to grab it before the people in the station. ___________________________________________ http://www.eve-tutor.com

I just lost two labs from this bug.
Last night I had the labs on the last leg of a BPO ME research phase. I figured, I'll just login in the morning and add a new BPO. I had just paid the lab fee last night.
I'm guessing that because of the previous research ending during the night and my not getting on until after DT, the labs unrented themselves.
What can be done to fix this "bug" is to have CCP look at my lab usage percentage over the last rental period. If my lab usage has been over 80% durning the rental period, give me a whole day of "inactivity" befor unrenting my labs. The time to unrent can be a function of how active the lab has been during the previous rental period.
Just a thought.

well, i've gotten a lab again. just dumb luck and some poor sod's bad luck. i mean, it's not like people decide to unrent on purpose. (regardless of rent)
I'll attempt to test some theories and even come up with a jury-rig solution. ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

well, this is interesting. I'd set up a week's worth of research, and made sure i saw the "progress" notation for 10 levels of production efficiency on a bestower blueprint. Went on my merry way.
Now, i'd obtained this lab slot under a strange, but probably typical, situation where i believe someone had unrented under my nose in preparation to re-rent it, or transfer....I'm beginning to think i'd gotten it right at it's cycle? anyways, an idle thought, since my blueprint was ejected - YET AGAIN - for only 1 run. very very strange indeed.
course, i was so busy i never checked my assets until too late...being, of course, under the 100% certainty a BPO was set and bill paid up full. poof went lab. completely bizarre. i'm starting to get the feeling everyone micromanages each step of a research project. |

Originally by: Falbala I think it has been fixed but to be sure about that make a small job like researching a small ammo BP to ME1, and wait for it to complete. Then you can do a big job several weeks long.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...so that's the fix, eh? hmmmmmm ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

Originally by: Recnac No such thing as autopay, you have to pay the bills manually as they arrive
that wasn't my specific problem, since i payed every bill in my corp wallet...but it's something to think about. ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |
