Or maybe this is the nerf to finally start the Botter vs. Botter wars?

Just move the truesec's over time, so you have a choice hide away up in you little hole or invade the region where your cash pot has emergrated too.

Now that they have it and it's working, it's not entirely inconceivable that they could re-purpose the PI resource hotspot diminuation/regrowth and make it apply to truesec as a function of NPCs killedà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Edited by: LHA Tarawa on 17/03/2011 20:19:46 Edited by: LHA Tarawa on 17/03/2011 20:19:23 Same old catch-22.
If the more valuable systems are not "enough more valuable", then no one fights over them.
If they are enough "more valuable", then there is little chance of kicking out the current owners even if you want to.
They tried to make the less valuable systems a bit more valuable, to encourage alliences to invite in more people. What they got was no need to have much conflict as there were plenty of good systems to go around.
There is no easy or always correct answer as to the best distribution or limits on resources.

Depends on the number set you are dealing with, there is most definitely a '0' in the natural number set. I don't believe in signatures, not even really cool ones like "This signature intentionaly left blank" |

"equal value space makes this game boring"
I'm SO glad to finally hear CCP saying this. We need many more unique features like cosmos, wormholes, and incursions to add texture to the often copy/pasted game world. I'm not saying I want a full blown themepark (hell, I would play Eve in text mode and enjoy it just fine), but things like incursions and wormholes really adds life to the game and can even give things to fight over .

Are there even people doing cosmos, faction wars, incursions then really :D
Please dont say yes, the few 0.01 percent of the eve player base that do them, really cant be counted :D

There are convoluted ways to do this and simple ways.
Convoluted requires randomness generating pockets of pwn
Simple requires measuring distance from the nearest (light years) empire system.
Make the best parts the hardest to reach in all directions.
Just ensure N+1 required resources are needed from diametrically opposed systems so there isn't a fortress with no supply lines to seather
Anything too far outside if that, we'll not see any reason to fight / move about ( oh and make jump bridges randomly fail to deliver source to target system :)
This game is far too orderly if bots can play. Needs more chaos to allow humans to succeed an bots to get locked up in their own ai routines.

This will solve absolutely nothing other then hurting the bottom line of alliances.
CCP should be looking at the imbalances of moon goo and fix that, rather then going around and messing with havens/sanctums. I know iam part of the north but even still Iam not ignorant enough to not see the major flaws with tech.

The best deterrent against betrayal is strength or at the very least the image of strength.
I 100% agree with you and in-fact wanted to say more on this but as it is my posts are always walls of text with dyslexic ommisions of words and attempts to contrast concepts not facts which makes them pretty hard to follow.
The success or failure political intrigue is truly based on space ship to spaceship pvp skill and a proven history of doing just that week after week. ThatÆs what makes even the Morale and Real-politic portion of the game ultimately rest on players history of shooting each otherÆs ships.
To inject another thought, An exceptional FC à or better yet a pair or trio of them can really be enough to catapult the ôsmall allianceö that they might form into ~controlling~ the best space and moons .
The skilled FC could do so with low sp characters too. Their skills would attract and retain other pilots with exceptional abilities to scout and probe, or fly logistics etc .
Even if they didnÆt stamp initially chose the name on the alliance or hold the CEO role* their importance to whichever alliance theyÆre with pretty much certainly would allow them to demand a tech moon or top end system for their personal corp, even if small in number. Which oneÆs in particular theyÆd get would have some horse trading involved to try to retain other strong parties with a method and timing that would help all save face(and people would only care about those parties too if they had proven on the battlefield that they were valuable and potentially dangerous if pushed over to the opposition.
(which is a hell of a lot of work in terms of the type of logistics of placing pos s and soothing egos that the FCs may likely not want)

I'm calling this a stealth nerf. I seriously doubt that CCP would make anoms better than they are.
So the one cool thing about dominion is about to be nerfed.
You get to keep the weak doomsdays, the op SC, the blobs, the week long structure roasts and the wonderful dominion lag.
Its funny, CCP thought dominion would break up null sec powerblocs for new guys.
I'm curious if this whole true-sec movement means that they will fix that wonderfully bugged true-sec in delve? Will T20's Candy Mountain stay open for future generations?
Also all space isn't equal right now. True sec still plays a part in the chances of faction spawns and good drops and escalations. This is why renters were paying IT 15 BILLION isk a month for B-7 in Querious.
Will CCP run off another 50% of its null subs like it did in 2010? We shall see.

If we had a proper, untainted economy, this would've been a most welcome change. Sadly, that is not the case.

I can see three sides of the change coming:
1. People who don't have any access to 0.0 -> no point trying to move in on the boarders/poor 0.0 leftovers since it'll give us little isk, not enough to keep it considering the big 0.0 owners got the best systems and can just kick us out at any moment.
2. People who have access to a limited 0.0 of poor quality -> we can't conquer better 0.0 because we got less resources than the good 0.0 owners.
3. Big 0.0 owners -> OMG YES! We are already the biggest in EVE, this will just allow us to make the gap between us and them even bigger!
Unfortunatelly I don't see any positive sides of this change.

I'm looking forward to the Devblog so we know exactly what they are going to be changing.
I thought the entire point of CCP bringing in things like the military index was so that the 'better true sec' systems would mostly not matter. This seems to be undoing a change they made in Dominion that was widely regarded as a good idea.
As someone who has entered 0.0 a few times with a rather small corp (sub 20 members), the impression I get from the notes is that people who try this are not going to be able to get this 'better' nullsec space.
Cryptic notes are cryptic

Currently a fully upgraded system will spawn 4 good anoms with the rest being junk. If the changes make that the standard, and then increase the number of good spawns in the better systems than it's a good change.

Same here. Depending on what CCP actually changes, and how they implement it, this could be a great thing, a total bomb, or it could be a non-event. I was positive that the insurance fraud nerf and mineral rebalance was doomed to fail and that the mineral market would go into a death spiral. I'm pleased to have been proven wrong.
If the result of this change is that the truly exceptional systems can only support a handful of pilots, with the rest of an alliance or coalition forced to make do with à less, this could signal an end to the NAP trains once a neighbor sees how much greener the grass is over there. If the NAPs do break down, and 0.0 does go back to being a game of King of the Hill, then 50, 100 or even 200 of the best players living on the best piece of space in the game will be not be able to stand for long against 100s or 1000s of players and perpetual DoS tactics.
Of course all of that would depend on CCP winning some big battles against botting so that players, corps, and alliances actually care about the relative quality of the space they have available to them. Fail at that and nothing else matters.

Best suggestion ever. After all, would you keep sending in forces when they get slaughtered non-stop? No, you'd move!
