Point Blank - Very good 1960's crime flic with Lee Marvin.
Silent Hill - Film adaptation of the computer horror game.
Animatrix - Overlooked by a lot of scifi fans. A collection of short stories based in the Matrix universe.
Colossus, the Forbin Project - Ebil AI computer shafts humans.

You can't find it anymore, never released to DVD, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_Years_(film)...it too has lots of bewbs, but the animated kind...

In Bruges - Very odd movie, f#ckton of swearing, some killin¦and lots of Bruges. Don¦t watch ANY trailers, they retSrdedly show most good scenes. 
Ip Man - About the teacher of Bruce Lee. Yes, it¦s that awesome. There¦s a sequel. Still haven¦t seen it, dammit!

Delicatessen - A bleak dystopian future, dark humour, surrealism, a particular sense of aesthetics with a lot of personality, good and whimsical soundtrack, cannibals... simply brilliant. Terry Gilliam would be proud.
And speaking of Terry Gilliam: Fear and Loathing in las Vegas, the result of splicing his twisted warped cinematographic genius with Hunter S. Thompson's nihilism and excessiveness. Freakness to the power of two, an absolute classic in my book.

I have memories watching that film when I was a kid. And fear % Loathign is also king.

I've been hearing very good things about Haruki Murakami, coincidentally I picked up "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" and "1Q84" a couple days ago at the bookstore.

haven't read those two books, only kafka on the shore, wind-up bird, south of the border, norwegian wood, wild sheeps chase and 2-3 collected short-stories. But I feel a certaini calm when I read his books. I read them slowly, not because I don't understand the words I just... have to read the slowly.

Good books beg to be savoured slowly, with mindfulness :) I'll start with "Hard-Boiled..." then, simply because it's the earlier one. I've only read some random bits in the middle while I was checking them out at the store.

That one COULD have been great. So many possibilities to develop the plot, but they didn't use any of them. I was a little disappointed, but that didn't stop me from watching it again to see if I missed something.

Old scifi movies like Man with the x-ray eyes, the day the earth stood still and other old school classics are still great to watch.
No AD/HD editing, super charged action or shia leboufs or computer effects, these films had make it on their own through script and good acting unlike most Hollywood films we see produced today.
Also a film about a scientist who attempts invent an ultimate weapon and ends up tearing an ever widening hole through time, ultimately past and present will mix.
Sadly I can't remember the name of the film but I do remember a talking car that had the last words "good bye doctor Buchanian" as the car shuts it self down to wait for the main hero to return (as in the car had a sentient AI so it was essentially a second character).

grapes Of wrath - B&W film made in 1940 set during the great depression in the USA. Its about the blood sweat and tears of those trying to grind out a better lives for themselves and for the future of their children in frontier USA. The film starts with the impression that the impoverished masses are slaves to the greed of rich hustlers but the story line drops candles of community spirit towards a cut robust message of enduring progress. The book by John Steinbeck won a Nobel Prize for literature.

I've seen The Gods Must Be Crazy 1 and it is funny in a way, but as the jokes in it are very old, they would not work anymore if this was released as real comedy today. It is worth watching still. I don't know about sequel tho. How is it related to original?
... plenty of jpn stuff... gotta check these out ... Borat was box office hit, really awesome clip tho ... MP is fun if you like MP type of comedy.
