Edited by: TriadSte on 20/03/2011 00:27:55 As topic states my computer only restarts when playing EVE. It only began 3-4 days ago.
Temps:
CPU 30C GPU 52C when running Eve 1920x1080 all high 8 AA. SYS 29C HDD 23C
No drivers updated/downloaded/changed
Onboard motherboard soundcard turned off in bios.
Only and I mean ONLY happens with EVE.
More than enough power to run EVE:
Core I7 6gb DDR3 Asus p6t Deluxe mobo XFI Soundcard [PCI] 8800 GTS GPU
What gives? Any ideas....

I just had this problem. Did a memtest and sure enough it reported back memory. Removed/replaced it. Game plays now.

Edited by: mechtech on 20/03/2011 01:02:39 Restarting with a blue screen can mean a driver error, bad memory, or corrupted data on the hard drive.
If there's no blue screen, that does almost exclusively point to overheating (which you ruled out) or bad memory/PSU/some other core system component rather than software, at least from my experience.

Run Prime95 for 10 or 20 minutes, if temps go above 80degrees that is your problem (use coretemp to check temps). If you BSOD, google the error code. It ALWAYS tells you what is wrong and why it blue screens. Also check the dumb file in the windows folder.

With blue screen you can just write it down and google it. Even if it doesn't mention driver name, might give you idea where to look.

There's also a possibility of disabled BSOD (which is default windows setting, iirc)
Plus overheating stuff and serious hardware issues usualy result in computer not working properly unless you cut power off and leave PC for some time, doesn't seem to be the case, especially if it's ONLY problem with EVE. |

also check your psu. Check if your voltages aren't stable, which to much load computer reboots automatically.

Update :
Ran a system check last night and found a trojan, Not run eve since removal.
I have reseated all internal hardware.
If it does not work after this then I am stumped.
I have a Be Quiet Dark power Pro 650W power supply and bought this as it got 5 stars in Custom PC mag for many many months. That mag is my bible and trust there opinions on hardware.
Will update later.

check fans, cpu, gpu(s) - psu's. Blow them out with whatever means necessary.
Don't rely on software solutions for temps (speedfan etc) Most are pretty unreliable. If your randomly rebooting with "just eve" running - What else have you tried to compare it to? Anything graphic intensive? CPU intensive?
When your rebooting What are your temps in BIOS? To me it sounds like your CPU is overheating. If your 50+ on a reboot this can be very very likely. It only takes seconds for it to drop 15-20 degrees.
Also, is it rebooting or is it just powering down? Big difference. If it's rebooting i'd look at the PSU. if its powering down, temps.

Feels like a restart. Temps really are fine I feel the cpu and its feeling like cold metal no warmth there at all.
I have this CPU cooler on a I7 really works awesomely.
