Edited by: Selinate on 20/03/2011 15:31:49 We got a lot of threads about this before, and they would pop up every now and then, but this weekend it seems that there were suddenly around 10 threads (EDIT: I'm using features and discussions and also assembly hall for this #, roughly) made just for the sake of AFK cloaking.
Did some nefarious corp decide to afk cloak on your botting operations?
Did some big bad cloaker make your carebear self run for the station while they sat there, scanned some moons, and had to make dinner?
Seriously, what set off the community to AFK cloakers so heavily this weekend?

It's positive feedback. Teary cloaky whine threads encourage more cloakers, which in turn generate more teary whine threads.

Thanks. If true, it all becomes much clearer.
I may now go and sit in a system too, just for the lulz.

One starts the rest follow. Forums follow pack rules if you know what you are looking for. Thus the rules also affect predators. It would be interesting if CCP could release the before and now numbers of people being cloaked and stationary :)

It's like the FoTM thing for the forum warriors. If you have read Eve-O forums for anytime at all, you will see the trends. Something gains a bit of steam, then it's same topic over and over by 50 different tards, til something new to whine about becomes the next FoTM.
It's macro one month, afk cloakers the next, then maybe some ninja looter or pirate whines mixed in the middle. ect..ect..

I guess macros whine when an afk cloaker is in their system since it ****s up the bot.
Anyone else with a brain will realize an afk cloaker is hardly a threat.

Edited by: Diomedes Calypso on 21/03/2011 05:18:48 Edited by: Diomedes Calypso on 21/03/2011 05:17:55 I'm thinking about starting an AFK cloaking(edit) service...
I'm getting good at finding ways for accounts to pay for themselves with types of low maintenance trade orders (edit)
More revenue from AFK botting would just be icing on the cake.
Maybe i could charge 15 million a day per system, guranteeing maybe 20 hours a day and typeing "I See You" now and then in local just to provide higher quality service.
I could charge for war decs too.. maybe I could charge people who don't want to be war deccd fees to have three corps continually war dec them ?

oh, i see what you did - you compared AFK cloakers to botting!
in all seriousness, you may be onto something with the service bit. i don't know of anyone who would do it... but im sure there would be some players.
on top of saying the occasional something in local you could drop the occasional cyno to make em real uncomfortable!

The beauty of this is that if more and more people do it in botted systems they'll have to change the bots to not warp out unless a different condition is met or they'll simply not be able to bot.
When that happens, the door is really opened up for interesting times.

Doesn't make much sense for botters to complain about it.
Without the ability to afk cloak, they can't even bot themselves.

I thought i went back and corrected that..in my second edit.. ... unitential but it probably did show a mental association I had...
...probably for a legal way to find the caching... and something within my low level of technical prowess
There would be a certain meglamaniac pleasure from the role play aspect too.. I might give it a try if I ever get a second computer...even small delays of session changes while pvping wouldn't be worth the income from the 10 to 20 other clients i might have logged in if I took on that venture.

Were I a realist I might wonder why you need to bot to "pay the rent". Just buy ISK like CCP design requires. |
