So I have had 5 agents working on minmatar starship engineering for about a year now and have not gotten a single t2 ship bpo yet. I am undoubtedly in that stage where I am holding my breath hoping for a Prowler or Mastadon BPO.
When you are in that state of "wishful" thinking that most of us agent runners are in now, you tend to think ahead about how you will exploit the bpo. It suddenly occured to me that I might turn down a t2 indy bpo and wait for the next ship release.
The way I see it, any serious hauler char already has gallente industrial level 5. This means that they will probably be looking at the tech 2 gallente indies, as opposed to training amarr/minmatar/caldari industrial to level 5. Well the Amarr might hold an advantage because of the 7th slot the impel has,
So how many of you will accept a non-gallente t2 indy bpo? What do you guys think the market and customer base will look like? |

Customer base will be small for Minmatar T2 Hauler, for the reasons you said.
As for T2 Haulers in general, My Iteron V is almost as good as they are, but I will be upgrading to the T2 Gallente haulers, mostly because they are harder to kill. Near impossible to lose one to expendable alts in Empire (I've never lost a ship to expendable alts, but thats because I use the available tools to avoid being a victim).

Was thinking on this a bit more....
The customer base for the Minmatar T2 Haulers will not be as good as for the Gallente ones, for the reasons stated, but there should be some market.
A fair number of players use Minmatar haulers because they include the 2nd best standard hauler in the game which does NOT require a month of training. While most of these folks will not train up for the T2 haulers, some will.

If i'm offered a Caldari elite industrial bpo i might cry, then turn it down.
How many people in the game have trained Caldari indy to level 5?

I think there will be a market but not a big one.
Most of the Tech 2 haulers are worthless except the ones that have a seventh low slot and even then you will have to wait a month while people are training. And even THEN you will only have a small number of buyers because most of the serious haulers already drive Mark Vs and it will not be worth a month to them to train up some other race's indys just for an additional 2000 m3 or whatever it is (out of 30,000 m3). _____________________________________________ I am motivated by various things, mostly ISK. |

The best for bulk hauling is the Amarr bulk hauler at 27296 cargo, or 35396 with 9 giant cans. (Assumes 7 x 27.44% expanders...)
The Gallente Bulk hauler can do 26774 (difference of 522, or less than 2%) or 33974 (difference of 1422, or less than 5%). NOT worthless.
I fly a Iteron V, and I'm not the least bit upset.
A big benefit of the Elite Haulers is that they are TOUGH. MUCH harder for sneaky 0.5+ pirates in expendable ships to take one down. And the Gallente bulk hauler can fit a MWD and a shield booster.
Edit: incorrect quoting.

after waiting a year i would accept a shuttle tech2 BPO just to hold a tech2 BPO from my agent in the hands. waiting again a year would only end in quitting the game with the lottery effect.

Not that I'm in any position to speculate, but I can say that I'm already in training so that I can gain access to a prowler.

Its nice to know I am not the only who feels bad about the system. Hang in there bro, you're not the only one.
Hopefully I'll get the prowler and then I'll have my first customer |

I think the real market will lie with peeps who are not haulers by profession. I don't have gallente indy trained at all, but i do have amarr indy lvl 4. When these new ships hit the markets i for one will be training the extra lvl to enable me to use tech 2 amarr haulers.
As for turning down a BPO if offered - i think that is a bad descision to make. Their is no real guarantee that you will ever get another print offer.
Some time back i was offered an anathema bpo. Not what i wanted but i took it anyway as i could always sell it. As i had the skills to make em anyway i decided to research the print and get some made to see how things worked out. I figured that a researched print would be worth more in the long run if i decided to sell later.
I can honestly say that since i decided to keep the print i have not looked back. Its obviously not the biggest selling ship in game (i don't think it will ever make me mega rich) - but it gives me a regular income for a resonable ammount of upkeep and i can't ask for more than that.

I think that every Tech2 hauler have their use...
The minmatar and the Caldari tech2 haulers have missile slots, as well as more potential armaments. And the +2 warp core bonus really help when traviling regulearly trough camped gates.
And, more peeps got Caldari and minmatar (amarr and Gallente too for that sake) industrial 5 skill, now that Barges are out. If you have Caldari Industrial 3-4, and whant to get a barge, you dont train Gallente Industrial 5 to get one.
2 isk and a cup of coffee...

I would buy a T2 minmitar indy simply because i don't want to spend a month training up to gallent indy level 5. My bet there are others out there just like me.

Ive got a mammoth... but i cant decide if its worth it to train the gallente skills so i can have a t2 industrial, the gallente ones sounds much better than the minmatarr ones. Any comments on this?
