Good day all.
After being in industry for many of years I have decided to break away from that world and do some PVE in my free time, for some extra isk and lol's.
Anyways, I have a Kronos and its good, I have a Paladin and I love it, so I thought about the navy raven (cruise fit) and got one to try... it was so bad I had tears in my eyes, Vindicator was good but was hungry on cap and rounds. So I started to look at a Tengu again, but, I have been hearing a lot about the Machariel and I want to know more about it before I get one.
Is it any good V Guristas? if so which ammo type? I am guessing the Thermal one...?
Does its damage really suffer as soon as its in fall off or can it take battleships 40km well?
Does it run Angel missions faster then hybrid ship
Is it better then a Javelin torp CNR?
All my weapon skills are maxed so please feel free to counter this and recommend the nightmare, although I have never tried one, I never thought it would do well Guristas missions, please correct me if I am wrong.
My overall goal is to crash into a mission, blast everything and move on, I have an alt for salvaging so that is not important on my ship.

Edited by: McRoll on 21/03/2011 21:05:42 So you have been hearing a lot about it and want to know more? How about you scroll back a few pages, on every page are like 5 threads with MAch discussion inside. Also, try the search funktion, you wont be done in weeks reading half of them threads.
In short, yes train for it.

The macharial is a monster. With good skills and a good fitting it is impossible for any sub capital ship to take it down solo and is still a challenge for any small gang.
It will slice through missions like a hot knife through butter.

1 girl 1 glass?
Also how come you have "all your weapon skills maxed" if you were in the industry anyway.
As for the answers you seek - 42.
The nightmare is worse but saves you ammo. The nightmare's a lot like a pimped out paladin with shield tank and more damage mods.
P.S. If you use a gist x-type mwd on your mach(no cap penalty) you can fly it like a blaster boat except start shooting from 60... P.P.S. Split your guns in 2 -3 groups. Deploy sentry . 1 shot incoming frigates(sometimes apply the second gun group or even drone dps for the toughest interceptors)

Is it any good V Guristas? if so which ammo type? I am guessing the Thermal one...? Yes but given the range you're better off usin arties. Without any high-damage kinetic alternativa, Phased Plasma ftw.
Does its damage really suffer as soon as its in fall off or can it take battleships 40km well? Thanks to the high ROF it does okay damage that far. Fit 2 TE's and you should be fine. It'll be about 30% lower than on close targets though.
Does it run Angel missions faster then hybrid ship Angels are its sweet spot. Can apply near full papaer DPS on close orbiting bs's.
Is it better then a Javelin torp CNR? Better? For Guristas, not really. More fun? Yes. Think of it as a fat BC. With 9.5x effective turrets. It can catch up with the NPC bs's webbed and AB running

Aye, mine goes about 125 m/2 while webbed (single web). Dual web makes it crawl tho :(

Well I did some research and compared the numbers with my buddy that uses a Machariel and ...
While the Mach is still bit better a High skill cruise CNR will actually do more damage from 35ish KM out.
Only case when it is significantly better is Angel missions.
This is due to A) clean Damage type [depends on the NPCs] B) No Fall off Damage reduction reduction
So Basically you either train CNR and be very good overall but not the best in each category OR you Train all 4 bship skills and 2 weapon systems and get the Nightmare / Machariel combo to get the very best results with 2 ships.
Up to you Pod |

Not true, a cookie cutter Mach extends falloff to 75km with t1 ammo. There's dps drop from distance, but at 35km it still does far more dps than a cnr, especially on smaller targets. Due to explosion radius and violacity (tracking for missiles) a CNR usually do less actual dps than a tengu. Dps projection isn't as good as the range would suggest.
