Do Sentry Guns get involved with 'Law Enforcement's? If I were to fire on someone with a negative Security Status , of another Race, near one of their stations in 0.3 space would I be fired on by that Factions guns?
Thanks.....

You can fire on anyone with a security status of -5 and worse. It doesn't matter where, what race, or anything else like that. Otherwise, you'll get flagged/sentried/bbq'ed. |

Thanks for you info. The reason I ask was I'd heard that Sentry Guns might be just to protect Stations.

there are sentries outside npc stations in 0.0 to protect the station i think... but 0.1 to 0.4 they will attack you and kill you unless you tank. -----------

when determining when sentries will shoot at you, you have to evaluate some things.
1) is the system owned by an empire. to determine this look at the name. if it's an actual name (edbinger for example) then the sentries will shoot you reguardless of system sec rating.
2) if it's not owned by empire, ie a series of numbers and letters (ROIR for example) the guns will only protect the station.
3) if the individual you're shooting is -5 or worse you can shoot at him no matter what the sec rating/sentry status. however, as with any act of aggression you still incur the aggression timer that prevents you from jumping or docking.

okay, how about Sisters of Eve? are they an "empire"? Would the sentry guns ignore a -5 (or less) pirate firing on a trader leaving or arriving at the station? ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

Sentry guns dont shoot at outlaws. Only when they've committed agression, otherwise they just hang there and do nothing.

Edited by: Neo Angelus on 15/02/2005 01:43:14 What would happen if you shot at a player with a -5.0 rating or lower that is at war with someone, and is allowed because of that to re-enter safe space all the way up to 1.0 again? Is it still safe to fire on them, or does the fact that they are at war, give them protection from attackers outside of the war, by punishment of Concord, and any nearby Sentries?

Edited by: Gordon Gekko on 28/03/2005 17:27:58 another question:
what happens if your outlaw gangmate gets attacked at a gate or station. Can you help him or will the sentrys start shooting you

No, you can't help him because then you would be helping a crinmal and being flagged as doing such. This includes repairing them or sensor boosting them while they are agressed.

In non-empire 0.0 sentries only fire if the station is aggressed upon

What setup, then, would be required to tank two sentry guns? "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |

I found that if you armor tank, harden all 4 armor types, and run 2 large reps you can tank 2 sentries for a good 3 mins or more, it works rather well, just be sure to be aligned to a planet, just incase the tank goes sour
