I'm not that great a Vaga pilot atm, if at all, considering this is my first Mini pilot. although I was reading about Gunnery and how Gal and Cal are hardly flown now days because Mini And Amar guns are better as are their ships. Should a Proteus be able to run Blasters and melt a Vaga within 5 sec? with Level 4, & 5, shield skills, and default nano setup? I could not even keep range on the guy with or without being webbed. and them blasters hit dam good from 15Km away... I'm about to spend a month training into Loki but something is telling me a Loki wont even touch a Proteus for damage and that T2 VS T3 solo is fail/instant death sentence regardless oh hull types... or SP backing it. I even brought a Falcon for e wild card and since he missed a Cycle or two... I went pop. Is it worth even training a Loki for solo Pvp? is the Proteus not the better ship, DPS output, and WTF factor? most eve has become burn mwd to target, shutdown target mwd with Scrambler, orbit if able, and fire until someone is dead... at-least it feels that way from 2005 up until now...

Loki vs. Proteus depending on the fitting is a fairly even fight.
Vaga vs. Proteus however should always result in a dead vaga unless the vaga has alot of ammo and a faction point. As the proteus does have that lovely scram range bonus.
edit. On paper the proteus will have better dps and ehp than the loki but the loki will have better range, more than likely more utility and more speed (even when armor fitted)

Loki with 2 webs = dead proteus for minimal damage taken if you don't get scrambled or are 100mn ab. Even if it takes an age to hit that explosive resist (might go quicker if he has a hardener and cooks it). |

The problem is subsystem bonus extends falloff on those blasters. They can reach up to 30km, the range is not as lol as normally for mid blasters. Range of your point will be the limiting factor, not webs. The brick isn't as kitable as you may think. He will have crap dps, but he will be able to hit you.

Well if he packed null and if he's super buffer fit you can just leave when you want. Main risk is a flight of light ecm drones stopping you keeping him (at bay). |

With dedicated implants the Proteus can show up with over 250K EHP, OC this will not give him the win button against the Vaga (witch is the title of this tread).
Dmg projection of the Vaga is far better than Proteus and this is the point that is going to make the difference.
Blasters and their ridiculous range, blasters and their stupid dmg application range will get asskicked by a good Vaga pilot in a combat situation where pilots have the same skills/experience and no particular combat situation advantage (like duel or 1:1 for ex)
Just look at the numbers and remember that blasters apply some dmg over/under op distance but nothing compared to what they should do in their op distance +/- 10%
To make it simple I'll hit you at 15km lets say up to 200, my OP distance is 1km -> 5km with mods/implants/bonus, now can you see where the blaster problem will be against a projectiles Vaga?
-not even talking about the fact that blasters will hit you with kin/thermal witch is the highest base resist your vaga has while you can use Em or Explo at any moment at any range in your falloff to apply considerably more dmg than I will be able to do.
Yes the Proteus can show up with 250K so what?

Except kinetic is lowest resist on vaga.
Yes, proteus can hit at 25k, but dmg is so low it will take him 2 days to kill you. On the other side, vaga doesn't have that great dmg either at 25k. Sure it's much better than proteus, but proteus will have at least 150k EHP, at which point it becomes a race who will bring his friends faster.
btw, overloaded faction scram on proteus is 20k, so it easy to make mistake with your vaga and get in that range and then you're dead. |
