Well, very sorry to have participated since the first page then. But as you wish, one of the 'damned imperials' is retiring from this discussion. |

That fate and history have combined to put Caldari and Matari on opposte sides of the conflict in this cluster is a tragedy. We have more in common than many at first assume. If only your people could shed the ties that bind them to the Amarr we would undoubtedly be able to establish a relationship much to our mutual benefit.

Rarely have truer words been spoken. Sadly, it's also almost 'heresy' to some of the more gooey-eyed Federation worshipers of course, but you can't expect too much reason from political zealots. The similarities between the people of the State and Tribes, ideologically and culturally, are strong and powerful. There's warrior strength to be found, along with the savage ruthlessness and deviousness required for the... fiscally minded. There's ingenuity and innovation. There's perseverance against the odds. There's the capacity to do what must be done for your people.
Take away the politics, and all that remains between the Caldari and the Matari are similarities normally found between brothers.
Oft-times the State loyalists will find themselves arrayed against the Tribes' forces in space. While I wouldn't hesitate to position myself against the State's forces, I would always do so with a salute of respect that none others have earned outside the Tribes. Realism and politics dictate that we are enemies when we face each other in space. That is an inescapable fact with today's political climate. Culture, Spirit and recognition of a brother dictate that we are estranged family that may yet grow closer.
So let us pitch our forces against each other, autocannons against missiles, speed and maneuverability versus impenetrable shields. Long lost brethren against brethen... and once we have achieved our goals... one or the other... or even both...
... let those of us who survive the fiery forge of battle face each other... and embrace one another.
And let New Eden tremble in fear.

Lyn Farel was being the most reasonable people in this thread. She must have the patience of a saint to try and explain these things to these ungrateful Matari. If you listened instead of insulted people, perhaps you would learn something.
...I guess since I am not imperial aligned it is cool for me to stay and talk, but really I think I made my point on the first page.

the battle lines are not nearly as well defined as you make them out to be. while the State as a whole will never turn against the Amarrians unless they shoot first, individual corporations can enter into contracts with anyone, even the gallenteans.
even now, you can get the indirect support of the caldari navy by hiring Mordu's legion against your foes. do not quote me on any ties between the navy and the legion, or the state wil replace the explosive warheads on their missiles with lawyers. as a caldari native, i understand more of how the State works than the Matari do. as a Minmatar citizen, i have no right to comment, so say the lawyers.

I do understand that the situation between our people is fluid. My own attitude towards the Caldari varies dependent on the corporation allegiance of the individual in question - much as tribal/clan allegiance mattered to me before the Thukkers became part of the Republic. Indeed I think of the State as in effect three tribal coalitions.
Ishukone and it's supporters I think of as genuinely neutral, dealings on a purely commercial basis are possible, I will kill pirates for them but not Gallente or Matari. If I see them on a battlefield we fight but I don't go out of my way to harm their interests. One day we might even be friends.
The Patriots are doing what they think is right for their people and hurting mine in the process. That's war. I will do all I can to hurt them while this state continues. However I understand that it is just a "business" war, not a "personal" one. If the situation changes we can return to a degree of peaceful coexistence, although memories might take a while to fade.
Noh and the practicals I regard as no better than pirates or Amarr, just like the cartel - no mercy, no quarter.

As one who migrated to the Republic with no tribal ties, I am not myself immersed in any particular tribal tradition. The question of whether tribalism itself is endemic to Matari culture or whether it is the remnants of pre-Amarr nationalism is a very interesting one...as is how sustainable the current arrangement of the Tribal Republic will be in the long haul. In the meantime, though, there is no polity that is as interesting or offers as much opportunity as the Tribal Republic.
With four major tribes made up of tens of thousands of unique clans, Republic society is more diverse than any other by orders of magnitude. When so many various worldviews, cultural identities, histories, and ways of thinking can collaborate without combining, the possibilities for innovation and invention compound. With the Amarr Empire so theological straightjacketed, the Caldari State so homogeneously consolidated, and the Gallente Federation so bloated with restrictive bureaucracy, the Republic seems by far the best choice for a tinkerer and science-dabbler like myself to set up shop and make home.

Originally by: Chakrasul it is good that one representative of the Thukker nation brings his practical wisdom to the Summit, a trait so common to your people. I earnestly hope that many other Thukker voices will be heard regularly in the future when matters of all kinds concern the Minmatar nation as a whole.
He spoke well.
In Thukker bars, I've heard quite a few altogether more questionable suggestions for Midular and her troupe - if she's even still up there, pretending.
Me, some of my clan, and most of my family - we don't mind a figurehead that keeps everybody's attention where it doesn't interfere with the important dealings.
There you have three different points of view, and all are valid. It only makes life more interesting if whoever is able to tolerate most booze will determine the day's preference.

What bars are these, if I might enquire? I'm, as ever, interested in productive cultural discourses between Minmatar National representatives inside the current Republic -but especially outside. The proud Thukker peoples are on top of that list.
Get in contact, if you will.
Sincerely,
Chakrasul te Sehmet
