seriousally its full of racism and stuff and full of junk it only shuts up and gets civilized when a gm is there which is'nt very often, now I personally don't care what anyones says racism or whatever but this channel is to help new players and they should not feel insulted in a help channel and Iwhile it helps weed out the weak its probably not winning you any subscribers.

I care what others think of the game, not what people actually say its like a zoo in there, funnyf or me to read but I know if I was struggling in this game and thats the only place I had to turn too I;d probably stop playing, although I guess in hindsight npc corp chat tends to eb the same as well.

Rookie chat is a sewer because anyone with a trial account can spam it and there are plenty of players with grudges against ccp so that is where they try to do the most damage by driving off new paying players with outragous behavior. CCP needs to seperate the rookie chat just like they did the trial forum access.

Sounds like CCP needs to push for some more aggressive ISD recruitment.
If you petition people who are trolling and disruptive, a GM will usually send an ISD in fairly quickly. Constant trolls get muted eventually too.
It would be nice if CCP gave people a way to occasionally volunteer in rookie help chat without having to log in a trial alt or committing to be a full blown ISD. I used to log in rookie help alts when I had let my sub lapse on my paid accounts. It was actually pretty fun most of the time.

You mean the same ISD's that promote lottery scams in eve and on the ingame role playing news column?

There are 5 ISD teams. And yeah, I'm entirely against how much people love getting scammed in the lottery, but that's not the ISD branch I'm talking about.

Love that idea. I enjoy helping answer questions when I up a new account, but I'm not prepared to leave my current corp to be a volunteer full-time. There should be something in between ISD and regular player just to populate rookie chat with knowledgeable people round the clock.
There's no such thing as overkill, only degrees of effectiveness. |

I haven't been in there recently, but when ever I've hopped in for a quick FAQ, I haven't experienced much trolling or off color remarks. I've only ever really seen small talk and help spam. Like another poster mentioned, petition. --- DIE - EVE-O's SADOMASICHIST I WHO HAVE NOTHING! |

I'd rather they activly monitored itthan petioned, in fact I'd rather the new player leaves the game than petiton because even 15 minutes delay could be enough and I won't be in rookie chat forever.

I think what rookie help needs the most is to be split into multiple channels or something. There are so many people in it that it's so spammy it's basically unreadable. As it stands you're better off asking in corp chat.

I will have to agree on this one, the last time I had to literally every time I logged on was the first thing I did was close that channel. It was worthless, how could anyone who takes on the resposibility to answer questions that slips by so fast and even dealing with players in foreign langauges even think of trying to help the newbies period??
I for the life of me cannot even fathom what goes through a new player's mind and even me for that matter when I first started, ask a question, it gets buried like right now. Over a thousand trial accounts logged on anytime day or night and their experiences are marginal at best unless they join a player corp where things are usually much more calmer and relaxed and questions do get answered. Sorry CCP but thats just my 2iskies worth.

Pretty much. I made a new alt recently so sat in rookie chat helping out a bit as i was doing the blood stained stars. and frankly it is super hard to keep up. i kept missing follow up questions people had so they ended up sending me a private convo request.

I had the same issue with my alt while also doing blood stained stars.
