Sort of a difficult question to ask, but: Do you think Eve Online is transforming into a "lifestyle" ?
Mainly asking, because i am doing something atm which i would NOT do for any other game - sitting here and watching the livestream and drinking with two friends. What the hell... (maybe i am just getting old)
Anyways, what is your opinion? **** **** Please send me mail if you want to sell big piles of corpses. Must be in mint condition. (space-frozen)

No, you're just getting old, and perhaps slightly more nerdy.
It's not uncommon, most MMOs have a group of people interested enough to watch streams of the developer's annual dog and pony shows. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

well, CCP said time and time again that they intended to create a sci-fi simulator and not just a spaceship game. ---

Eve almost killed my career. I spent less time at work than I spent with Eve. This is true.
Then I joined the Podpilots Anonymous, and their 12-step program helped me become a person again. Now I play 1, max 2 hours per day. Had to quit doing 0.0 campaigns, though, and had to find my way into a corp where everyone is a bit older and many have families.

Wellll ... a sim it's not ... though maybe they said they wanted to be like The Sims (think Walking In Stations) ... I'd buy that.
I mean ... WWII Online was a sim ...
IL-2 ... is a sim ...
EVE ... is not a sim.
Gaming - is a hobby. Lots and lots of people spend inordinate amounts of time on their hobbies ... Yes - I supposed you could say that these hobbyists have a life style related to their hobbies ... but then everyone's got a life style ... and most people have hobbies that are part of it.

back in... 2008 I think? when they started to get more serious about Incarna. Basically, they want EVE to be a complete Sci-Fi world simulation, and... more can't remember cuz this was some time ago .
but I definitely remember Oveur saying something on those lines. ---

not so much EVE changing into more than a 'game' but alot of games are changing!
all games have changed to try and be more than just another game, especially with online play

IIRC they repeated this at least once a year since EVE was first announced. I can't check at the moment but i think it's even in the preview of the game from an issue of PC Zone Benelux from 2000.

Bah, I'm sitting here by myself, drinking beer =) And I've watched ally tournaments drinking beers with eve-ppl or by myself. Sure, EVE is more than a lifestyle, but most of us love it.

Nope, nothing's changed. EVE is a job (which you just haven't noticed).
When it's a job, it's already part of your life.

Unfortunately won't happen until 90% of the people I meet that have heard of EVE stop saying "I tried that game once, I played for 3 months and got tired of mining so I stopped."
Couple of people in the clan I just joined mentioned that on mumble when I brought up EVE lastnight lol. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Sounds more like it's become more of a hobby than a game for you, nothing wrong with that.
