Thanks Akita,
It's nice to hear you being paid your dues. If Eve shapes up, it is in some small ways thanks to you.

Agreed, no matter how many times I want nothing more than to troll the hell out of you I take my hat off to you for the work you put in. It's nice to see you getting some recognition for it.

Always nice to get namedropped on official occasions, and I hear it happened twice (at the "small fixes" meeting once, and at the closing ceremony a second time) ? I was sadly asleep on both occasions (or had just woken up and didn't get to tune it)... post-surgery recovery wreaking more havoc with my sleeping schedule than my usual erratic sleep patterns. Once or twice, it's an honour either way.
P.S. Looking forward to the youtube videos _

Edited by: KWyz on 27/03/2011 07:21:56 I'm certain the surgeries involved transplanting some of Akita's awesomeness into other EVE players.
Yes, Akita is that awesome. And he's from my country <3.

Akita T posting stats posts surgery

someone needs to be accountable. but watching his presentation it kinda seems like he is more like "Ohhh nifty internet economics simulation!" than someone who is watching game balance. then again ccp does seem to have a pretty lazy stance to game balance. and watch out if you make them get up off their recliner they going to hit you with the nerfbat hard. I read a thing about doing business in Iceland and well they seem to be pretty laid back about most things, that could explain it.

This stuff. For years I've been impressed with your knowledge of EVE Online, and I also think you did a great thing with the thousand papercuts initiative. The flipside of the coin is the way you regularly seem to communicate: being a total douchebag to people, which has made me seriously dislike you. Well deserved kudo's to you getting mentioned at the fanfest. I also genuinly wish you'd clean up your act.

Well, everybody has a certain patience threshold... mine has continuously gone down towards "itchy trigger finger" the more I participated in the forums... you try being polite to everybody that brings up the same old junk and has the same old misconceptions, see how long you last. Almost 5 years of forum presence and counting here (actually, over 6 years of forum lurking, long story). I *can* actually be civil (and I am so a lot of times) with people that are genuinely interested in gathering knowledge, polite discourse, and are capable of realizing when they don't know something. _

Three things, well done for the shout out Akita', secondly if it wasn't for Akita's spreadsheet the Eve Industrial Organiser wouldn't probably exist, and I do believe my sheet was the first that could calculate cost and ingredients on multiple items, but I digress
The most important part is the third point, if you had to explain that minerals you mine aren't free every day for five years you'd be a lot more miffed than Akita can be occasionally.
Congrats on the recoup after surgery.

Well, from a certain viewpoint, you could argue that the minerals you get yourself are free (since you pay no ISK, just time), but then again, in that case, you can also argue that ISK is free, or for that matter, almost anything in EVE is free (or almost free), since you can get almost anything without paying any ISK for it directly (and the rest, you can obtain by paying token amounts of ISK only). The important thing to note is whether or not the minerals are worthless or worth less in any case (like when you get them yourself) or not. Obviously, the method of obtaining them is irrelevant, they're always worth the same amount. Too bad it isn't obvious for everybody.
Originally by: Malcanis In before someone claims that insurance isn't an ISK fountain
Oh boy, talk about that To be fair, very few people seem to really understand what an "ISK sink" and an "ISK fountain" (or faucet, or source, or generator) really is. A huge number of people simply look at the personal level and assume that whenever you end up with more ISK than you started with, that's a faucet, or vice-versa, if they lose ISK that that would be a sink... when in realty, what happens at the individual level is irrelevant, and only the game-wide ISK total matters. I mean, seriously, I even saw people claiming that selling something on the market is an ISK faucet, or that being scammed is an ISK sink _

Were you aware that an entire dev team is working on a new project called "All the Little things"? Did you get your thread title from them, or them from you?

IIRC, CCP stole it from Akita. They even linked the thread in the devblog about it since it was there before the made the devblog.

I became aware of it when the devblog came out less than two weeks ago (the thread's been active for almost 4 months). I only know that before that particular blog, in previous ones, they used to say "Team BFF" was assigned to "fixing potholes".

Well, I didn't get it from them (not consciously anyway), and no idea where they got it from Maybe it was just a case of similar train of thought, maybe it was a little nod, don't know for sure

Well I'm pretty convinced having watched the entire fanfest stream that this current project of theirs is named after your thread. a nice little touch I thought, as was the shout outs they gave you during two of the presentations. Perhaps next year you could give the economist a hand in preparing something a little more substantial and a little less dull.
